The club have let Bibby go, so he can join another club.

Bit strange, I thought he’d played quite well in a lot of games this season and last season.
If we keep letting players leave and we suddenly get a few injuries in one game , like we did last season, we’re going to be short of players again , and have to start trying to get players on loan again.

We're too soft with player contracts - if another club wants them pay a transfer fee

Well if there's no replacement already signed the clubs doing it's utmost yet again to shoot itself in the foot ...no doubt someone will say " but we've got Houghton and McWhirter" .....yeah Houghton that's clearly been deemed not good enough..and while I think McWhirter is class I'd much prefer seeing him in the back row where he does his best work ....so what now ....new prop ? A loan ? Or max Roberts filling in in front row again lol ..one thing I hope it isn't is an effect of having no cash flow through weeks of no home games upcoming...you'd think not bearing in mind we constantly announce new sponsors new deals etc ....

The fixture list a joke but it seems the same for all the Championship teams to be honest. Listen to the Podcasts with Mike Parsons I am sure this will be brought up in the conversation. Problem is I do not think Championship players get paid that much and their main job will be more important. Presume he lives in Yorkshire, and players need to be near Widnes and hence why this scholarship has happened to get local players for Widnes? We are also competing with teams who are paying beyond their means to have the better players. It is about being savvy in business because we all know Oldham can not afford that team without someone pumping money into the club or they will go bust. 1400 on average they definitely should not have a better squad than Widnes.

Happens every season - get off to a strong start while there is competition for places, let players leave without replacing them, then our form falls off a cliff (While the club blame injuries)…

Back rowers at prop it is once again 😁

I can understand the decision in some ways but also can’t. The club seem to do this every season at very similar points if we offered a year contract we should have the money in place either way to pay him regardless of when the next home game is. So keeping him even if he just warms the bench is better for us incase of injury’s that normally occur doesn’t make much sense when the better depth of squad keeps the players trying to perform better each week so they don’t lose there shirt.

Hopefully someone new coming in?

I see all the moaning again lets have Mike Parsons on the Podcast to get us informed. I am sure Paulie may update the situation and who knows the circumstances. If a player not happy and wont perform, then with a bad attitude would we want him at Widnes? Ryan Lannon was not the best attitude. 🤣

This is very disappointing but with us renting the ground from the council & getting little or nothing back from pie & ale sales with gates of only 2,200 to  2,400 down from 3,500 in 4 years it is pure economics. I just hope we do not see Bent or other smallish players  at prop again. If so we will lose too many games.

Losing Bibby is definitely a blow that imo could cost us a few places in the league come the end of the season.

Strange one for me as well, he was in and around the 1st team. 18th man or on the bench. He was poor in his last game for us vs Hunslet, wonder if his head had been turned  at that stage? Above Houghton in the pecking order in a key position. We are now short at prop again. If he was offered a deal for next season let him move on.......... at the end of this season when his contract is up.

With 2 moved on now, (stand off and prop) we need to sign a new prop.

Well a bit surprised by that - he has been in the squad most games and played a few times off the bench

he no doubt on his way to Salford, following toby - both signed up for the season and no transfer fees involved ( same as lannon,Kirk,Reilly etc)

or perhaps on his way back to shuddersfield ?
we are now thin on the ground for props - an injury here and there could tear us apart

i doubt there is a signing in the pipeline but live in hope

Further to my initial post. Perhaps we forget about our policy of signing up 3 or 4 youngsters for the future unless they are in the first 17 or 19 in the pecking order. We could then run with a squad of 22 or 23 players as we always end up like that anyway. More important to have a better squad of 21 players than a mediocre 26 one &  inevitably lose players as a result? Thoughts?
