We played well for the first 20 minutes, when we had a try under the posts was disallowed that would of put us 10-6 ahead, and Barrow took a quick 20 metre tap and went down the field to score. After that our heads went down and we went downhill quickly.
We still had a chance at halftime if the coach could have got the players confidence back up and tell them we’re they were going wrong , but unfortunately for the second time in 4 days, his half time team talk didn’t help, and we just got worse.
We obviously need a good coach, who although he won’t able to turn things round on his own, he hopefully will be able to get the players playing better. Because on paper we haven’t got that bad a team, and those players should be good enough to easily get a top 6 finish.
A bad day was made worse by getting stuck in traffic jams on the M6 on the way home, from people who had been to the Lakes for the weekend.
I agree with you about us having some good, but underperforming players FV.
Unfortunately that coupled with the absence of other good players, like Jack and Shane, results in a general lack of confidence throughout the squad.
Obviously we aren’t going to achieve much this season, but IMHO all that is needed to steady the ship for the rest of the season and improve players confidence is an experienced coach - like Kear.
the Lowlights....
The defence didn’t look any better on video than it did live. One thing the highlights didn’t show is the amount of ground made by the Barrow forwards particularly the two starting props who often drove the ball up early in the tackle count, a job we generally ask our outside backs to do considerably less effectively.
