The thing with the low crowds is you can sit totally on your own at the stadium, rows and rows of empty seats, plus it's outside. The shops, work or waiting area at a GP surgery for example is more of a risk. I would be a bit apprehensive if it was say a 10k crowd, but we are talking about 1,500 fans in 2 stands that hold 7,500. If you don't go the pub before the game you can get in and out with no contact with anyone.

You’re also not sitting face to face with people as well which would obviously make transmission more likely.

Seats covered in dust and bird poo, toilets are a mess, whole place is soul less.

Nothing really is it,a clean up and fresh paint? As for soulless the place can be, and has been rocking.Depends on the game and crowd itself.

Cant speak for the north stand, but the seats in the south stand are a disgrace. It appears that the seats have been cleaned, but the backs of the seats are covered in whatever has been on the seat. It's like a thick grease/detergent/scum, and I could feel it on my clothes when I stood up. Straight in the washer, Sunday night.

Get the jetwashers in, please HBC.

Bearing in mind the proportion of ST holders who are OAP’s its not surprising that they are missing atm. Many will have been warned by their GP that ailments that are the norm in OAP’s can be enhanced by Covid, with lasting results. They’ll be back, God willing!

Trust me they won't. They are now victims of their mental health, next season they'll be older, they are out of the routine. They are gone forever.

People are that scared of dying, they are not living. You might as well be dead, than stare at the 4 walls of your 'living' room all day.

I can only speak for myself, but it is a bit pessimistic to suggest that those who have chosen not to attend games this year will never come back. I am not scared of dying or catching covid - I actually had covid in September, but fortunately with no severe conditions - but just being careful of not being infected and then infecting others close to me. I just wanted to gauge the reaction to the lifting of all restrictions. I am considering coming to the Bradford game and definitely intend going to games next season (subject, of course, to a further outbreak and restrictions being imposed). I would also have no problem with the club/council imposing sensible restrictions at the ground to reduce the risk of infection.

By the way, there are actually lots of things you can do at home without simply staring at walls or go for walks or visiting places where you are not in a crowd.

There is more a risk of fans not returning in the light of the poor performances this year. The club have made a decent start with some of the re-signings and potential signings, but need to highlight that they have recognised the failings this year and intend to go into the 2022 season with a better squad that is capable of competing at the top of the Championship. Opening the bar may be a start and some form of pre-match entertainment - an under 17's game or an amateur game?

That is just insane paranoia

Anyone over 70 will be concerned about the inept performance of Bo Jo and his clowns

We are hitting 140 to 180 a day in deaths from covid and nobody is batting an eye.

But the crowds are down for a reason

And as soon as its safe people will be back

I am wondering how many of the deaths reported as "Covid" are actually because of this virus or the underlying health of the deceased.   We do not hear anything about deaths caused by a different causes i.e. Cancer, Flu, Heart disease etc.    I am guessing that many deaths attributed to Covid over the past two years have nothing to do with Covid.   I am sure that sometime in the future some cleverclogs will go through all the deaths and disect the "cause of death" statements.

I think it’s been widely reported that a lot of Covid deaths had underlying cases, eg: they had some other serious illness at the time, cancer, lukemia etc, but because they also had Covid , that was put down as the cause of death.

Your figures are a bit out. There have been 743 deaths in the UK over the last 7 days, so an average daily figure of 106, not 140-180

Over 450 people in the U.K. die of cancer every day for a bit of context. Perhaps some people are looking at 140 deaths a day in the context of a population of 67 million people and taking the view that they would rather live as normal a life as possible instead of locking themselves away and I don’t think they should be criticised for that.

Is it just Widnes or have other clubs seen gates plummet ?

Rugby League in general is suffering badly at this moment.

Whilst on the other hand, Football is booming...

Some are blaming COVID for poor attendances ...Others are blaming general apathy towards the game.

It's not necessarily a conspiracy theory. The context to the death figures throughout the pandemic has been that the people who have died have done so due to any cause within 28 days of a positive test.

I know a couple of people who have died with Covid. One had leukemia, would have died anyway and their death absolutely was not hastened by Covid. Another died of Covid. Both have Covid on their death certificates and it leads me to believe that it is right that people question that.

Anyway, the Government will revise the death figure down when the public enquiry starts.

Probably.Covid isn’t going to go away by the time season tickets go on sale or when the new season kicks off. Thanks to the papers with their alarming headlines and wall to wall TV coverage showing  solemn faced Witty and Hancock delivering the latest gloomy predictions and victim numbers, people were frightened to death.
