The stadium was gloomy a few years ago when barely any floodlight worked and the pitch was virtually dull. I think the stadium has always lacked a “spirit” maybe due to the fact it’s only usually 25%-40% full most weeks at best.
The lack matchday entertainment is totally inept from the clubs perspective, Finney talks about the lack of season tickets been bought for juniors but how do you attract a kid to the game when the best entertainment available is a few excessively loud tunes and a man on a microphone.
Just reading newspaper reports regarding numerous Covid casualties AFTER vaccination. Long Covid can be long indeed and needs watching, so don't complain too hard at restrictions for the time being.
It ain't over yet!
I’m not saying that people should not take precautions but the media is very good at highlighting worst case scenarios which on an individual level are not that likely. People also need to live their lives - cases of folk being too scared to even leave their houses even after being vaccinated are also tragic.

Agreed MT but as an aside there appeared to be only myself and my wife who had a mask on entering the stadium on Sunday. After double vaccines we are still very careful about our surroundings and rightly so as it is still claiming lives and people are still ill from it.
Our attendance isn't given in league express. Some games are given but not all -e.g Fev v Dewsbury was 2115, Bulls v Swinton 2819.
Whether you agree or disagree with the restrictions imposed by the council and/or the club, is irrelevant. I presume that there is a basis on which the decisions on restrictions has been made.
There are people, like me, who have decided not to attend games this year in view of the lingering doubts over covid and would support continuing sensible restrictions. What is wrong in my view is the seeming reluctance on them to explain the reasons for the continuing restrictions. I live in Nottingham and a decision has been made locally to postpone the Goose Fair this year as a precaution. This has been publicised in the local press and most people I know believe it to be a sensible decision.
Similarly, why do the club seem reluctant to publicise the attendance at games or the number of season tickets sold? I actually believe, perhaps optimistically, that fans will return next season, particularly if the club shows some commitment to building a squad capable of competing in the Championship.
Perhaps the club could use the Bradford game as a starting point for next season, with announcements of signings and re-signings and making it a day out at the ground with pre-game entertainment and even having the bar open at half-time! They could even have 2022 season tickets on sale and maybe even offer some incentives for younger fans attending the game and those who supported the club this year through the purchase of a season ticket.
Seats covered in dust and bird poo, toilets are a mess, whole place is soul less.
Nothing really is it,a clean up and fresh paint? As for soulless the place can be, and has been rocking.Depends on the game and crowd itself.
And that's the thing. It needn't be a massive overhead for the council or club to get it right - just needs a merry band of volunteer and a local firm to provide a load of supplies!

One can only assume that declaring the official attendance wouldn't look good for the club.

You might find that the volunteers are trapped behind their keyboards!
The Council copped flak for deferring rents for the stadium let alone cleaning it up!!!

I'm Big on data and prefer not to let national or local politicians determine what I do.
So today for instance 170 people died from covid related deaths
Currently 1.3 million people have covid and seemingly all restrictions are lifted.
This time last year about 40 people a day were losing their lives with covid as a factor and about 50,000 people were infected.
So as of now the risk factors are far higher than last year although of course the people making the political decisions are relying to totally on the vaccine.
Economics are now determining what we do rather than risk and even the mainstream news presentation has been diluted.
So I fully understand and appreciated why people are not going to the games at this time
Similarly, why do the club seem reluctant to publicise the attendance at games

I reckon I could have counted the crowd on Sunday.
I'd say about 1000
Clearly a lot of season ticket holders are not attending
I’d be shocked if it was as low as 1,000 though I appreciate it is mere conjecture and we aren’t going to get an official figure. I’d be confident it was somewhere between 1500 and 2000 though.
Bearing in mind the proportion of ST holders who are OAP's its not surprising that they are missing atm. Many will have been warned by their GP that ailments that are the norm in OAP's can be enhanced by Covid, with lasting results.
They'll be back, God willing!
Is it just Widnes or have other clubs seen gates plummet ?
Based on my trips to Halifax, Dewsbury and particularly Bradford it is definitely not just Widnes struggling to attract crowds at the moment.
