Assistant First Team coach

I see we are advertising for a new assistant first team coach.

Whatever happened to Tom Wood? Followed Coleman from Swinton and given a 2 yr contract last October (ish)

Has he gone already or are we going to have 2 assistant coaches?

Does anyone know the true story...

We had a decent enough assistant in Belshaw, inexperienced but doing OK when he took over the reins for a few matches at the end of last season - was he maybe booted out when Wood came.

2 assistants wanted. Shocking but not surprised we had no explanation on Belshaw leaving. Says on bad terms to me. Bob Beswick got an acknowledgment piece as a send off.

Well  Farnworth Viking post earlier today mentioning down 1100 season ticket holders from last season, which tells the story. I won't mention a player who I know, but he wanted to stay at Widnes. He wanted only a little more money at Widnes , and Hamilton binned him off. If you add 1100 at £200 a ticket, then that is over £200,000, which would definitely be a fewl decent players to sign. Personally i don't trust him and love to see him gone.

@ratboy obviously forget your links to this player for a minute but would you honestly give any player from last season more money then they was already on? Given the results and form of last season and previous seasons before? Because personally I don’t think any of them last season deserved better terms than they had. Maybe a new contract to certain ones that left but definitely not for more money.

I don’t think they said we were 1,100 down on last season, but that we’d sold 1,100 tickets altogether so fsr , which isn’t as many as we sold last season.

It literally says in the club's advert that Tom Wood is settled in and still there. The new assistant coach is an addition to what's there.

Crazy as a part time club and why not spend on a quality halfback or big forward? No offence to Lyons he is not the quality player like Danny Craven.

I also know a player who went in for negotiations with Hamilton and told him to shove his offer as he had offers elsewhere but is still here due to the new coach wanting him. Hamilton should never have been doing recruitment or re signing players without a head coach involved. I get what you are saying Ratboy, It's not as if we have recruited any better than the players we let go so a few bob more may of kept some of them. Hamiltons remark about them at the fans meeting shows what type of person he is.

Prisoner exactly my point and I am not saying pay Farnworth, Lawton and Danny Craven much more money because they were hardly outstanding. We could of even paid a little more and bought another player. I feel Lawton, Craven and Farnworth if we just paid abit more, it would of strengthened our squad further. Then add a loan like Harvey Wilson and dual registration on top we would have had a little more positivity in our current squad. If also Hamilton had a better attitude with fans and players etc it would have got a positive vibe at the club. This would have helped extra season ticket sales.

Prisoner I am not saying pay these players an awful lot more because they did not stand out, but did a good job. Danny Craven a quality player when fit but would have been a risk with his injuries. But we have not even replaced him with a similar standard player is bizarre. I do not trust this dual registration because of the recall and not lending the players you want. It should just be used as back up in the forwards if have an Injury crisis.
