We may have told him honestly he is now 4th in line at present as a winger. Being young this may have not suited him as he wants to play regularly for us now to secure his current place and his future - hence he moves on. Fair enough.

Maybe we could have loaned him on to someone else to keep his registration, but we didn't. Again, fair enough.

I wish him well for his future.

Maybe Coleman didn't think Sumner and Brown were good enough. Just a thought.

@gpo1971 he signed them both and also didn't play either of them. Therefore hard to come to that conclusion. Even more so with Sumner as we had him on loan last season.

Yeah Geoff, we announced the signing about lunchtime today.

Let's see if he's in the squad for the trip to the North-East on Sunday eh?

Spelly.

It seems Tai has now been recalled by Warrington.

Warrington reserves start their season tomorrow so I take it they'll be holding onto a few

For comparison (this includes all the recent comings and goings between clubs)

Widnes - 23 (lost sumner, brown and Jones - not including doolan on trial)

Fev - 24 (lost Zach herring and Thomas Lacans)

Sheffield - 23 (lost BJB and Mitch Clark)

York - 33 (added BJB and Mitch Clark)

Bradford - 28

Toulouse - 24 (added Thomas Lacans)

Halifax - 20

It looks to me like the RFL don’t see Salford as a super league club which leaves the door open. Could Bradford/York see this as a last chance to get in before the doors are locked, rumors again of an nrl buyout would mean no promotion relegation  for the foreseeable. it’s unfortunate we aren’t in a position to hope for promotion back up as it’s only money for the top table and crumbs for the rest. Widnes being a feeder club to wire/saints/wigan won’t get bums on seats and dwindling crowds mean less money for a competitive side. If a buyout happens by the nrl it could become a Lancashire/Yorkshire semi pro league like NSW and Queensland cup comp

According to a release by the club today about Sunday's game against Thunder, it mentions that Sumner is " ----- likely to come into the reckoning for his debut."

Time will tell.

Spelly.
