With the increased interest from the nrl maybe it would be beneficial to us to try to engage in a partnership with a nrl club as that seems to be a way forward which would help us

maybe Canberra would be a good fit as they constantly look at the English game for players and we have the world club history

maybe some sort of collaboration would be beneficial for us and maybe to them to give young players first team environment and experience plus many viable commercial things which could be done jointly surely it would be beneficial to ask the question of what's available and be ahead of the curve before the nrl takeover it gives Canberra a foothold here and gives us a step up the list nothing ventured

I was thinking the same, earlier today. Strike while the iron is hot. Put a circular out to all the NRL Clubs.

Great idea and Paulie seems to have good connections with the club. So possibly put this forward to the new Aussie recruits, Alan Coleman and the board of directors. I actually know a few of the board members very well in Matt Taylor and the Twins but I never know who is Andy or Neil. Unfortunanetly I have not seen them for years due to only going a handful of games, and living so far away. I might have to go in the Bridge Suite on my next home game and then hope they are in there for a chat. 🤣  The other option is mention to Flash and Mike Parsons for the Podcast.

It's an easy 'ask', and I do bump into Allan & Stu Murphy most weeks. I could certainly ask next time I see them, as I'm sure Mike & Flash will, too. IIRC AC went 'Down Under' last closed season, with the England Lions (or 18's), so he may already have connections with people within the NRL.

I am not sure how or where Canberra would benefit from such arrangement. The NSW cup is a much higher standard than the championship and unlike SL clubs, it is unlikely Widnes will ever a have player who would be of an interest to Canberra.

Canberra would use it as a place to place young players wether from Australia or ones they are looking at here for future and with the nrl taking over ,Australian clubs are looking to English clubs as for me I'd sooner be a feeder club for Canberra than Warrington!!

and it gives Canberra a foothold in the game to place players or coaching staff

what was Sydney city roosters getting out of looking at Salford except a lot of debt which we haven't got better to try than not try at all

Maybe if the NRL bought SL, one of the criteria for a place at the 'top table' would be that you have to be 'tied in' to an NRL club. London Broncos, now have Aussie ownership, or part there of, and I'll guarantee you, they will be in SL 2026 for Salford. Whether or not SL becomes a 14, 13 or remains a 12 team Comp is anyone's guess.

They make their money off pokies (slot machines).

The good news - rakes in millions for the clubs.

The bad news - gambling addictions are epidemic in Australia.

The pokies is a uniquely Aussie thing, wouldn't work here.
