42 point start

When was the last time you can remember bookmakers (Skybet) giving Widnes a 42 point with Featherstone still odds on.

Although I would love it if we proved them wrong I think we could be on for conceding 70 plus points today with a solitary try for Widnes in the first 5 mins.

It's going to be quite similar to the Toulouse game around this time last year I fear.

However, as I said elsewhere, even if we get beaten heavily but put a good effort in and show some pride that's an improvement on recent outings.

Anyone brave enough to bet on us to win today can get 33/1, but Featherstone are slight favourites at 1,000/1 on!

Cant think of a bigger upset than if we were to win today

Can Widnes win even with a 42 point start ? I may be going soft but perhaps it won't be as bad today as we expect.I'll go for a comfortable Rovers win but a better effort from Widnes. It's just a game of rugby and they're not the kangaroo tourists.

Team: Roby, Brookes, Fleming, Tyrer, Holroyd, Lyons, Smith, Burgess, Fozard, Doro, Davies, Wilde, Bent.

Bench: Tilleke, Baker, Farmworth, Hulme.

No Craven, glad to see Brookes back he always puts a shift in, let's see what they come up with this time.

That is a very weak side. Possibly the smallest pack we have ever fielded? No Craven still & no Lawton. Realistically if Featherstone have a mind to we could concede over 70 points IMO.

@sinbad Featherstone have only beaten Barrow, during their recent dip in form, by more than 42 points. Bradford gave them a good game on Monday, eventually losing 32-18.

A decent performance is all fans want, with players showing some heart and pride. This is the least we need to avoid more fans walking away from the club before the Whitehaven game. If we are not careful, we could end up with lower crowds than Featherstone!

A loss by 20-30 points and still in the game at half-time would be a decent performance.

@geoffw

I'd argue our best two forwards in Owen and Kenny are on the bench too. Lawton dropped or a late withdrawal? He is one of the only players we have who actually looks dangerous in the opposition 20.

Maybe it’s a sign that we are trying new tactics, ie not using small forwards through the middle of a bigger pack.

Painful listening, but was always going to be.

Let’s hope today is rock bottom!

So much a bit of fight and keeping in the game for 30/40 mins.

Featherstone are a very good side though.

Oh dear - 36-0. Can the referee stop the match now?

Can’t even be bothered to listen now, never mind pay to watch this rubbish again.
