With the new season just days away I’d like to get everyone’s predictions for how our season is going to go this year. Me personally I can’t see much change from last year especially with maizen leaving and have little to no pace now, fingers crossed I am proven wrong tho!

I think it is impossible to predict accurately with eg a team like Newcastle with easy fixtures & all York's cast offs & a link to  Australia who could probably win more games than us.  So I'd say 6th to 9th with the present squad. Will miss Lawton & Gilmore badly for the first few games too.

I think this year Alan Coleman will be under pressure to deliver because it is his squad now. Personally it is difficult to say after one friendly against a virtually full 1st team Warrington side. Plus Gilmore, Lawton, Mcwhirter, Langtree and the new player to replace Maizen. According to Tim Holmes we might have a gem winger but is injured at the moment. Abdul is 29 years old I am sure he could lose some weight and come better as the season progresses. It will also depend on injuries to our players and other teams too. One thing with Abdul got a great kicking game that have missed.

Having initially been confident of us having a competitive team in this league and a top 4 finish, I think a mid-table finish is all we can hope for at best. I hope that I am proved wrong, but I think that this squad will struggle through lack of speed in the backs (again) and a pack that is average.

Maybe Abdul will provide a decent kicking game and open up the backs; maybe we can pick up a decent running full back and a fast winger; and  maybe we will be lucky with injuries, but just have to wait and see.

In a way, this is a meaningless season with no chance of promotion to SL. They might as well hand London the promotion ticket now. As people have said, just enjoy the games and hope that we see some exciting competitive games during the season.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the season will be to spot which Clubs are next to go bust, especially if the RFL can't get a better deal from Sky or anyone else.

Well I don’t expect us to be in the top 3 for sure, given all the clubs fixture lists

i think we will probably be about 6/7

but all depends on how we start and of course injuries

if we can scrape a win at London things could be good for a short while, great cup draw, assuming we beat that to heath - have a rocking ground for Leeds

The fixture list are a farce we should all play each other as gives lower clubs an advantage. I think it would be interesting which clubs survive again with the disruption from Sky and sponsors. There is not much interest because London are promoted without a ball being kicked. They need promotion and relegation back from winning on the pitch only. I just want to see us being competitive and we should be a top 3 side but feel come mid table again.

@dan1 add Newcastle and Batley to those lists

I'll say 8/9th

That would be totally unacceptable for a club with aspirations of SL no matter what the fixture format.

So we are all saying 5/9th so does that mean we have regressed? Has our off season been so poor? I remember us all saying we should be certs for top 3 when the top 3 went up to super league lol why do we get every off season so wrong ?

do we lack ambition? Not finance coz fax and barrow can't have much more to spend than us ! It's really depressing doing this every season lol

@dan1 I think Halifax will have to be very lucky with injuries to finish 3rd, with their small squad.
And seeing as they were supposed to be half a million pound in debt last season, I wouldn’t think they would have any spare money to bring any more players in, unless they were young kids .

@vikingfox71

we have not regressed, but looking at the fixture list and the reversion to percentages, we are up against it

the 7 teams we don’t play have a somewhat easier fixture list , so 4 of them will probably finish above us, followed by 3 more from our ‘division’

so 7/9 is probably where we end up

I think the squad is weaker than the 2nd half of last season as we have lost Condon and Maizen. Bibby is solid enough but again he was with us in the 2nd half of the season last year.

We havent addressed the 3 key areas: Size/quality in the pack, pace out wide and the ability to score tries.

Patton wasnt the answer at half back, i'm not sure Abdull is either, but lets give him 8 - 10 games and see where hes up to. I really hope he comes good.

Although the top 3 teams have gone up, some of the teams below us I feel have added more quality like London, Sheffield and Doncaster, hence me going for the same position as last year. We could pip Barrow to 6th place, I think only a few points in it.
