would of give give him a year, 2 makes him feel safe
Players feeling secure at the club being the one thing we desperately need to avoid eh ? I think Lawton re-signing is a good thing. Judged by elite level standards he would be below average but at the Championship level he is very useful, particularly if used properly.
some players dont perform once they get long contracts we have seen it b4, lawton is hit and miss and as i said i would of give him 1 year, keep him on his toes.
He’s performing today.
And put a pretty good shift!
No Ince, James!
He did nothing yesterday - do we really need him? Is he really better now than other wingers we already have?

No Pascal thinks he is rubbish.
To be fair its hard to shine without the ball! But time has moved on I'm afraid.

Thought he played quite petulantly at times yesterday Ince. The afternoon certainly didn't go Oldham's way and his way but it looked like he wanted to have a good game against us and played for himself at times rather than working with his team mates. I agree it's a strange signing and if Cross does leave, I'd happily keep Brookes and Hatton for the wing spots with Ince (and others) as back up.

Equally, some people thrive when they feel secure. Not knowing Lawton, I’m not sure which - if either - would apply. Either way, whilst I might be against a 10 year Martin Offiah type contract, a bit of continuity like a 2 year contract or two isn’t a bad thing in our current situation. A constant turn over of the majority of players year on year isn’t the best scenario.

But have we actually signed him?

maybe im just haunted by the past when we kept handing out contracts willy nilly to everyone no matter what they was playing like

To be fair, he was playing in a god awful team at centre - which he never is. Set up their try.
I think we could do worse than Ince on the wing. Looks like Brookes is making a case for the spot himself, and a lot will hinge on whether Hatton stays or not.
Of the players outstanding, I think Matty Smith has done more than enough now to be given a deal and should be the scrum half IMO.
I'd also be tempted to give Hulme the 9 shirt after his performances in the last two home games, safe in the knowledge that Fozard can cover and rotate in both roles too.
Agree about Hulme. He has "found his feet" and his confidence, is now playing well both in his own right and as a part of the team getting to know how to fit in with other players style of play.
Re Ince, yes we could do worse than him -(Me, for instance!) - however at present am not convinced that he is any better than what we already have.
The reality is that for next year we really do need a back up squad as good as the first choice team. Just how that can be accomplished is the big question. Loans as a policy was a disaster this year to be scrapped asap.
Players like Fozard, and nowadays Smithy, who can cover other positions, are one way to reduce the overall squad size. Someone did mention a while ago that Hatton was a potential centre?
Lyons work in defence puts many scrum halves to shame and I wouldn't be too quick to scrap him, or Else tbh.
Inevitably the big remaining question is the availability of three or four solid props. Clough still seems to enjoy running about and hopefully has signed or at least approached.
leave ince and his dummy elsewhere
Defo agree James about Marty Smith. He could be heard on the field bossing them around. That’s what we need on the pitch a General to move the players around
