Which players are leaving the club?

I wonder who SF was referring to when, in his preview of tomorrow's game on the club site, he said  ......"We've got some people retiring and some people leaving the club."......

Any ideas, anyone, about who is leaving the club?

Would imagine the likes of Buckley and Roby may be on their way out.  Would like us the keep Edge, Brooks as squad players.

Sheffield released a list of leaving players the other day, perhaps early next week we will do similar?

Tomkins, Jewitt, Cook, Clough, Cross - all doing one or the other!

How do you leave if you never arrived? 😜

Sensibly sicknotes will be gone - Tomkins and Jewett, cook,  clough, retired  young chap going to saints and winger to Salford

apart from that who knows

but good recruitment so next season should be good

onwards and upwards

Some players need to move away from the environment they have been in all their careers to develop.

You may say Buckley and Roby could do a good job for Rochdale or Swinton in the lower league for example.

Daniel Hill. Looks to have a bright future based on the evidence of his few appearances for us.

When you think about it most players in the Championship are PT and must have decided that their likely future as a well paid 'top' SL player is pretty unlikely. They have made a sensible decision to play semi-professional, supplementing their job with a PT RL contract.

This puts them in a situation of playing to succeed in a drive for promotion to SL which would mean that the club would probably dispense with their services!

Just where the game's re-organisation will take us nobody knows but the way that PT and FT conflict needs to be  resolved somehow. It may be that more cuts in the Sky budget (not unlikely imo) might drive the game back to PT.

I think you'll find there will be an 'avalanche' of SL players looking for PT gigs over the next 2 years. Some of the wages I was told earlier today, that Clubs in Sooper Dooper league are paying, are what some clubs in this league are paying (Fev, Bulls)

You may well be right Paulie. There has to be a limit on home many SL players a club can afford.

In the days before SL club Directors would usually find players a job, sometimes real, sometimes not!  Those days might well return. I reckon that a good many PT players are on better terms, in total, than some SL stars.

There may be other attractions that could be negotiated like courses at John Moores Uni provided that the entry requirements are met.
