Dead right Spike. That was my point about a realistic basic figure required to run a club. Nothing flash , just the basics. The teams who want all the extras can fund it from their own budgets.

There are people on Twitter who write about 100 tweets a day advocating for expansion and claim the game is dying.

Is the game dying in terms of a multimillion pound operation, possibly. But, who cares, RL isn’t about business it is about creating a sport that is exciting to watch and I have struggled to watch RL now for a few years.

All these fancy titles - head of performance, rugby director, head of analysis (I kid you not),Leadership and management director,Chief executive. All taking good money that could go towards playing staff- the ones that count. All SL clubs have them and guess what ? There's only one winner, all the others lose.Playing at being bosses.Pretending to be Premiership football.

Full time money consolidating the advantage Saints, Leeds and Wigan have as the biggest clubs with the best crowds anyway. Also, let’s not forget that the Champions are the Grand Final winners now (since 98) as opposed to who tops the League. If you think about it, Huddersfield, Cas, Catalans and heaven help us Wire have all been top and would have won the league under the old system. Equally, the Premiership which you could use a rough equivalent of the SL Play-Offs: we won 6 times as did Wigan, so you could argue us and Wigan dominated that.

That is why I used league as example as the league winners prior to 96 were effectively the champions rather than premiership winners, so winning the league back in the 80s had the same importance as today’s grand final.

That is incorrect the majority of champions where decided by play offs, mainly due to the large league and not playing each other. probably 70/30.
