thanks for that - I always assume Stockport is more northern as I associate it with the airport
were there any more southern founder members than them then ?
doubt iti know the welsh teams were very near to join, but decided lack of national games stopped them ( great pity looking back)
Type in Northern Union Table 1895-96, and it'll show you the 22 teams involved.
I'm not tech-savvy enough to transfer it on to here unfortunately.
We joined the following season.
Spelly.
Interesting that they all played 42 games in a season at a time when I think no substitutes were allowed during the game, I may be wrong on that. Even though they were getting remunerated for playing they were by no means full time, I assume more games meant more money if you played.
Some strange names on there, the champions were Manningham, there is a district in Bradford called Manningham, anyone know if they were from Bradford and if so did they merge with the Bradford FC team, also on that list, at some point and if so do Bradford count this as one of their league winning titles?
I'm off to bed now, my brain hurts.
yes 42 games without floodlights, september start must have included 4 bank holiday games and possibly evening games ( September and April)
