I saw this on the 'net, so if you saw it too, please leave it for those who haven't to have a go at the answer!
I openly admit, that I'd never have got it, but here goes...............
Of all the venues that staged the opening fixtures of the 1895-96 Northern Union season, following bthe "split" at the George Hotel, only two are still being used today. One is Mount Pleasant, Batley, but what is the other?
Spelly.
Lowerhouse Lane/NP/etc
Lowerhouse Lane/NP/etc
I'd have had a guess at that, but (correct me if I'm wrong by all means) that Lowerhouse ground is "a few hundred yards from the current site" according to summat I read.
As a clue, the venue in question is about 30 miles from Widnes.

Although from summat else I've just checked that info might be duff, and it is the same venue! It looks like you were right mate! Apologies, but I was only repeating what I read!
You played Batley at LL, winning 20-0.
But can you guess the other ground about 30 miles away?
Spelly.
I'm regretting starting this LOLOLOL
Somewhere else says you played Runcorn!
So let's forget this thread eh? Coz I'm getting more confused by the minute! Not the fist time I admit!
Anyway, could I take this opportunity to wish you all a magic Christmas?
Spelly.
I think it’s Widnes on Lowe house road - moved a few times up and down but stadium is roughly on same place

Thanks mate!
Spelly.
thanks for that - but who would have played there to start with ?
Stockport! They were one of the teams (along with you mob) who were at the historic George Hotel meeting, and competed in that first season, finishing in 17th position, just one below a team playing at Lowerhouse Lane. They lasted until 1903.

thanks for that - I always assume Stockport is more northern as I associate it with the airport
were there any more southern founder members than them then ?
doubt it
i know the welsh teams were very near to join, but decided lack of national games stopped them ( great pity looking back)
