Looking at the Future?

Watching the Fev/Leigh game on a wet, muddy and sloping pitch lacking a few hundred watts lighting made me wonder if this looks attractive to the SL leaders?

Funny that the bloke who derided the 'small northern towns' becomes one of their coaches. Maybe his rather brusque comments last week were a sign of his disappointment at his fate!!

Despite the obvious renovations that have been done at Post Office Road, it's still a horrible little ground.

The pitch always seemed too narrow for my liking, which doesn't really help to sell the game on it.

Perhaps you'd like the pitch to be above maximum width, because it is - and indeed always has been - maximum width.

The pitch was very muddy because it absolutely lashed it down for ages before the game. Indeed, you could see the rain streaming down in the pre-recorded interviews with the coaches before the game.

The slope is nowhere near as pronounced as it used to be.

There seem to be large numbers of people who throughly enjoyed watching the game, as well as the 4,562 crowd.

According to the Director of Programmes at Premier Sports and the editor of League Express, there was a peak audience of 90,000 and an average audience of 75,100, making it the highest audience of any UK sports channel in the UK yesterday.

The game itself was a full-blooded affair with a number of cracking tries despite the conditions.

Still, it wouldn't be rugby league if we didn't have some people trying to find the negatives, would it?

Son, what have I told you about posting on forums on a school night? 🤣

In any event, you can literally measure it on Google Earth. You might find that at its narrowest it's about 67.5m (maximum width is 68m) but that's true about several SL clubs.

As a comparison, Dewsbury's pitch looks to be about 60m wide going by Google Earth, and Bradford were allowed to play on about 52m width last season.

I humbly suggest that a narrow mind, rather than pitch, might be the issue here?

You've been put straight and didn't like it, I get that, but that's your best response?

POR (or whatever it's called these days) is more than decent in my opinion.

OK, there's a bit of a slope, but it's hardly Batley-esque.

I believe a lot of the work regarding the stands etc, has been done by the fans.

Spelly.
