Released by the Raiders with immediate effect, but............
If / when he comes back home, where will he go?
I believe Pies have first refusal, but have they any room on their cap?
Hastings is heading to Wests next term, so Williams could / would fit in nicely there as his replacement, but what happens meantime?
If he's in limbo till 2022, his World Cup will be goosed, and along with Lomax, he's prob our best half back.
Leeds might have a bit of space as Eastmond has baled out on 'em, so could he go there?
Answers on a postcard!
Spelly.
Poss answering my own question, it's just been pointed out to me that Pies will have space, as Burgess would have been on good money, and he's no longer available.

He's an ex-Wigan academy player - so will count for even less. I can't see him going anywhere other than Wigan, they were getting him next year to replace Hastings anyway, so there's not a chance they will let him go to a rival.
It is interesting when an Aussie player bails out of an English club he gets slaughtered, yet when an English player does so from an Aussie club it is silence.
It must be hard being trapped out there with covid. Big loss for the Raiders he has been one of there best players.
I would rather be in Australia now than here, but the problem is your family can't visit. Shame between the club and player they couldn't have reached an agreement until the end of the season like Hastings at Wigan.
He's been absolutely slaughtered by the Aussie press, much more so than here, with the sports profile in the national media over here its doubtful it would have even made it other the specialist press and the Internet.

First thing I thought. Bit whingey this.
He signed a long contract on a good wadge I guess, then he starts whingeing that he wants to be near the sea to get the full Aussie experience. He does UK players no service tbh.
He was playing his best rugby too, but Ricky Stuart or Furner aren't the types to be bullied!
Don't know how Aussie pay rates compare with UK rates but I suspect that it will not be an upgrade, whoever he signs for.

You have signed a contract, at least fully commit yourself till the end of the season, it’s four more months.

According to Williams himself that’s what he did - he asked to be released at the end of the season and thought that was the plan. He got called in earlier this week and told he could leave now.
That was after he had missed training and said he wouldn't be available for the next gain. In addition his agent had been trotting round the other clubs so he was looking for a quick exit.
He got one!

Where did you read about the sea. They are clearly not having another Bateman issue
It was on a Newsnow item.
Will be a marquee player I would imagine so only £75k would count towards the cap.
He played the mental health card and it worked.Cant be proved one way or the other you see and he knows it.Like Furner says, the player welfare look after 120 players with bigger worries than homesickness but they all turn up.
