Watching our game against Salford on Vimeo, great to see Koloto, Offiah, Tony Myler and co once again.

And lo and behold no problems with the play the ball!!!

The scrums were a different story however! Other than that it was great entertainment.

Fundamentally the game is losing its USP of honest players, playing an honest game. The soft penalties that occurs at the PLB are an insult to the game. Years ago referees would allow tackling players to get up if they were making an honest attempt to leave the ruck or will allow them to get physical just to allow the game to flow.

For me, a good RL game occurs when there’s little intervention from the Ref. I would love nothing more than for referee’s to accept an untidy ruck just to add spice to the game.

The PTB would not be an issue if they simply imposed the laws of the game

The player has to regain his feet, place or drop (would  always be given as knock on so dont know why its there) on the ground and play it backwards with the foot

In an attempt to make the game faster they totally ignored this, allowed rolling the ball between the legs, consequently you got players on all fours throwing the backwards , rolling to the sides and moving left, right and forwards off the mark in attempt to make people appear offside and they are constantly given the penalty instead of being penalised for moving off the mark

Get rid of the grey area arbitary rules , Make them play the ball properly, get rid of the stupid "did he steal it or did he drop it , was there one man in the tackle or two" rule  , if you lose the ball you lose it, doesnt matter how, we got by for 100 years like that, its your responsibility to retain possession full stop

And we would see a cleaner , more skillful game

If they held the county cups now, would there be any Lancashire clubs to enter.

Yes. Loads depending on how you class them

A lot of clubs are in metropolitan counties now but all are still in the County Palatine of Lancaster

From memory we did not play at all well that day. Individual brilliance rescued us.
