Can he get them back to (and keep them in) the Promised Land?

Even before a ball is kicked, I can't see past either them or Fev for promotion.

Spelly.

I wouldn't describe SL as the promised land, more of a trough.

Beaumont has played an astute game in accepting promotion to SL, getting the £1m funding, increasing ticket prices; and keeping players on Championship contracts; and when the gamble failed is rewarded with a parachute payment!

They have lost a few players, but no doubt Beaumont will open his wallet - and use the money saved from the SL venture - to bring in a  couple of second rate Australians, not good enough for SL!!!

Leigh always seem to promise a lot, but usually fall by the wayside at some stage in the season. Being full-time should be an advantage, but it never worked out with Widnes and London, so  no guarantee.

There will be a few teams in the mix for the play-off places, including Widnes in my opinion and who knows what can happen in the play-offs.

No doubt it's a fantastic appointment for Leigh, fair play to them for getting Lam - SL coach of the year 2020 and assistant coach of the Australian national side - he's got a lot of experience.

With Chester there now too I wonder if Beaumont will take a step back, I've heard first hand how much he dips in and out of things there.  Spends big on players but has made short cuts off the field - for example, Leigh didn't do video reviews at all last year whilst in the Super League with the players as they had no analysist.  Absolute basic if you want players to learn and improve.

Agreed it's between Leigh and Fev, I think Leigh will just do it.  Big scrap for the top 8 if 2 divisions of 10 are introduced in 2023.  Clubs cannot afford to be outside the second 10, they'll essentially be amateur clubs.

Without going into detail, I know Lam was keen on staying in the UK (and in the North West in particular).

This is the ideal appointment for him.

@widneslatic

Sounds a bit like the Tim Sheens story! Each has/had a personal reason to hang around by the sound of it.

Leigh might benefit!
