Interesting debate on Fox League about how very few players can play 6 and 7. NZ Warrior scrum half wants to leave because he is currently playing 6 and wants to play 7. I think in the UK the roles are pretty interchangeable these days but different Aus.
intrigued to understand how a stand off can’t play scrum half.
Tis an interesting debate. I guess the concept has always been the 6 is more of a runner and the 7 is more of an organiser and play-maker.
I couldn't see Harry Smith playing 6 but I could see Mikey Lewis playing 7. If you know what I mean.
I guess like a few positions, lines are blurred (centre and 2nd row for one).
The Aussies also seem to have a few frustrated 6s at full-back occasionally as well.

When I played the 7 put the ball in the scrum got it out generally passed it on in open play usually gave to stand off who then ran the game (tried to ?). The stand off decided the options....run pass out pass inside kick etc etc
thinking of past players its the Tony Myler Kevin Brown Reggie Bowden David Ekersley etc etc
apart fron Andy Gregory...any other scrum halves who really made a difference on their own
Maybe in OZ those roles are still distinct whereas here it`s all merged to half backs?
