Widnes welcome Wanderers Australia in a landmark moment for the Vikings
After cementing their Championship status for the 2026 season, Widnes welcome Australian touring team Wanderers Australia in a special one off fixture between the two teams.
The game will be the first time Widnes Vikings Women have represented the town against any touring team. It is another landmark moment in the development of women’s Rugby League within the town.
Widnes have secured three trophies in two seasons, raising their profile within Rugby League and Tuesday provides another opportunity to grow on and off the field as the team target to compete at the very top of the National Championship division.
Team News
At the conclusion of the 2026 season, Front-row duo Ellie Reid and Hannah Whitehead departed the club. Both players have significantly contributed to the Vikings success on the field in recent seasons.
Ellie departs having relocated, whilst Hannah steps into retirement after a stella 8 seasons with Widnes.
The Vikings will also be without outside backs Naoimh Gill-Ward and Evie Price-Horrocks who are unavailable for the clash. Forwards Simone Hart and Tracy Peet will also be absent from Dom Dean’s squad due to availability.
In more positive news for the Vikings, Becki Davies returns to the club after taking a year out of the game. Becki was a key player in the Vikings 2025 promotion campaign, the versatile Centre will enter the action from the interchange bench.
Mid season recruits KJ Fraser and Kat Williams will continue their journey with Widnes, whilst young talent Megan Wall gets an opportunity to impress at Full-back.

The Australian touring team owned by Widnes director Brad Fussell have several teams competing in the UK. Teams range across men, women’s and academy Rugby League.
The Vikings will be taking on the Wanderers first team, who fell to a spirited 38-24 defeat against Warrington Wolves Sunday afternoon.
The occasion represents the start of what could be a strong partnership between the two teams, with owner of the Wanders Brad Fussell hungry to support the Widnes Women’s journey in becoming a heavyweight name within women’s Rugby League.
