We won in 1975 so you must be thinking of 76 v saints or 77 v Leeds
First time post and I get it wrong !! Yes it must have been 76 because i saw us loose twice, saints and Leeds before winning against trinity in 79.
I think my one will show the standards my generation of fan has had to get used to, compared to others, sadly:
Favourite all-time player: Phil Cantillon
Earliest memory: Bits of my first game, against Swinton 1999, but more clearly my next game, we lost at home to Batley!
Best Coach: Neil Kelly.
Underrated player: Joe Mellor (I think he got lost in people being all over Brown in the period 13-15)
Overrated player: Anthony Gelling
Favourite Memory: Northern Rail Final 09.
Good poll Viking Man. I'll have a go.
Favourite all-time player : Martin Offiah (the buzz round the ground every time he got the ball may never be recreated)
Earliest memory : My first game - a 26-10 win over Workington in 1983. Burke and Basnett amongst the point scorers.
Best coach : Much as I liked Neil Kelly it has to be Doug Laughton.
Underrated player : Barry Dowd, had a lot of quality about him and could play anywhere in the back line or even the back row at a push. Probably suffered a bit from being too versatile and also from injuries.
Overrated player : Misili Manu. Could run a bit. Couldn't pass, catch or tackle.
Favourite memory : Beating Wigan to lift the league title. Probably the only time I have ever been to Naughton Park and the ground was genuinely full. Amazing atmosphere and the fact we beat Wigan to win it made it so much sweeter.
Favourite all-time player: Stuart Wright/Jim Mills
Earliest Widnes memory: Watching them on the B&W telly playing Hull in the mud...imagine what that looked like
Best Coach we’ve had since watching: Sir Vincent
Most Underrated player: Alan Dearden?
Most Overrated Player: GOT to be Gelling
First Game: Wembley 1975
Best Widnes memory: Too many....I'll say the 1984 CCSF at Station Road (that boy Lydon, wow)
Favourite player: Tony Myler
Earliest Widnes memory: John Bentley running the length of the pitch and scoring in the corner! Also my first game. I was hooked!😁
Best coach: Dougie!
Most underrated player: Darren Wright
Overrated player : Gelling
First Game: October 1979. Widnes v Castleford. 30-15.
Best Widnes memory: got to be 1989, Old Trafford, World Champions!!!
I think anybody around my age would struggle with this, being a kid /teen in the 70's and 80's there are so many choices but...
Favourite all-time player: Joe Lydon - The complete RL player IMO
Earliest Widnes memory: waiting for the gates to open at half time to get in free when i was 7 or 8, first match i remember was Whithaven in about 1972
Best Coach we’ve had since watching: Vinty - had us at a professional level especially fitness wise before the true pro era
Most Underrated player: David Eckersley - played everywhere along the back line and was class in all positions
Most Overrated Player: almost everyone from 97 onwards
First Game: no idea
Best Widnes memory: millions - but for drama it has to be Keiron O'Loughlin's try in the CCSF against Leeds at Station Road when we were all but beaten

Favourite all-time player: There are a number, but probably Frank Collier - a big signing at the time and one of the best at offloads.
Earliest Widnes memory: Probably around 1956 - climbing over the wall and playing tick around the terraces
Best Coach: Vinty Karalius - well ahead of his time in fitness and conditioning
Most Underrated player: Andy Currier/Bob Blackwood
Most Overrated Player: Anthony Watts
First Game: Not sure - around 1956 - Harry Dawson was playing
Best Widnes memory: Lots, but best (and nearly last) memory was picking up my ticket for the 1964 CC final and in the excitement running straight in front of a van travelling along Lowehouse Lane. Also, going to the 1961 challenge cup replay against St Helens after drawing on a mud bath at Knowsley Road - a crowd of over 24,000 crammed into the ground on a mid-week afternoon, when the town came to a stand-still for the game.
Most Underrated player: darren wright
just looked up after posting and was glad to see others have picked dw, thought i was the only one
Darren was inexplicably underrated by other teams - IIRC nobody in the top flight offered him a contract that first short season when our demotion had finally been confirmed. Mind you so was Mal Aspey, and he was still a great centre at 34.
Favourite all time player - Tony Myler
Earliest Widnes Memory - an A&B motors game against Leigh in 74 I think.
Best Coach - Doug Laughton
Most under rated player - Mike O'Neil
Most over rated player - Kevin Brown
First game - probably some time in 74
Best Widnes memory - Obviously Old Trafford or Beating the Aussies would be the standouts . But I also think that first night back in SL v Sts was a great moment .
The Vicar
All down to opinions of course I think we should have a best player as well as a favourite one.
Best player Tony Myler ( nothing needs saying)
Favourite player Alan Dearden ( Hardest player ever to play the game and best ever tackler even though he was lightweight. Big Jim backs this up in his book)
Best Coach Frank Myler (Alot forget what he achieved and foundations laid)
Most Under rated Andy Currier (Had uncanny ability to make a break from a standing start never understood the animosity towards him. Top goal kicker who should of got more of the kicking duties. Ask the Balmain Tigers fans how good he was The White Pele to them.
Most over rated Darren Wright (Was a good player but the only reason i select him is because of the " Offiah would never of scored without Darren and he made Offiah look good" attitude. My granny could have played as Offiah's centre and he would of still scored bucket loads and still of been a superstar.)
Fist game 1966 and a real Denis Brown fan
