Our 3/4s are as good as most in this league; Owens & Craven, for whatever reason, are going through bad spells; Lyons shows promise but is learning his trade; we need two starting props (real ones, not stand ins), plus two on the bench together with a back rower and a hooker.

Baker is working his socks off each week, however is not a prop playing 80 mins each game, he is a hard working no.13.

Give him a chance to show what a player he can be.

Our injury prone aged props need to be replaced.

Easy for me to write, hard indeed for our coach to comply with the squad he inherited and presumably no money to recruit now at this time of the season.

Why the change of goalkicker? Tyrer is the better kicker but is he injured?

Got to assume Tyrer has some sort of injury niggle preventing him from goal kicking as the standard of his kicking has been excellent this year. Owens is a decent kicker despite those two misses today but it strikes me as very unlikely that the change has been made based on goal kicking merit alone.

If Dewsbury beat us next week, and recently they usually do  especially on their own ground, we will find ourselves in 12th place. One spot above the relegation zone. I cant see Oldham or Swinton getting enough wins to overtake us, but 12th in the Championship!!

The sad thing about today, was that York are not that good, and without errors, we should have been going in 24-0 up at HT. I thought their first try was on the 7th tackle (Ref error), Cross's 'brain fart' gifted them 6pts, and also in that first half, Lawton appeared to crash over, yet they stole the ball, somehow, in a 3 man tackle??? It was at the far end, so difficult to see. Maybe James could see better from the press box?

2nd half was poor, 2 penalties kicked, never found touch (unforgivable), decision making in the York 20m, abysmal. IIRC Captain Jack kicked for the corner on the 3rd tackle, when there was nothing on. It was the typical 2nd half shambles.

I suppose on reflection there was quite a bit of effort, it's just decision making, and size that is killing us. The 3/4s are taking the ball at first receiver, too often, they are tiring due to doing the anonymous forwards work. Radical changes are required, my fear is that there's no money, and if we had any, no players available.

Difficult to see on the Lawton one, there didn't seem to be much protest from the Widnes players so perhaps just a loose carry.

Craven and Owens simply not leading the team and setting an example like senior players should at the moment, unfortunately.

If you look at the photo on the club site of Lawton in the process of scoring, you can clearly see a York player with his hand/arm round the ball trying to steal it!
