What a waste of time and money. Not taking anything away from the lad if he has to go home but it happens all too often with Widnes. Contracts are worthless these days it seems. Let’s hope the savings in wages from Evans and Johnson will now go towards a decent loanee or permanent deal.

The timing couldn't have been worse with Roberts injury, so effectively we have just lost 2 centres in the same week. Not sure what's happened as he played last season for Whitehaven so it's not like he's just arrived in the country.

On the up side at least we now have plenty of room on the wage front for a signing or 2. The 21 man squad we named for Fax was actually all the players we had available.  28 man squad minus Evans and Johnson takes us to 26. Then Gilmore and Roberts out for 4-5 months, Johnstone 3-4 weeks, Brookes 2-3 weeks and Farnworth ill. We only had 2 wingers, Ince and Holroyd, 1 prop Tilleke and Brown at loose forward as spare players.

No loss letting Evans & Johnson go. Need to regurgitate their money on new bodies (at least one).

We don't know the context here, so hard to understand what has gone on and why he wants to go back to Australia.

Cover is definitely needed in the three quarters, we moved Sam Wilde there Monday night for the last 10 minutes which shows we need some cover.  Not sure Ince can play there but is an option.

If contracts are worthless then I'd be looking maybe at Greg Burke at Barrow as prop replacement. If compassionate grounds are a good enough excuse/reason for others then why not us ? He's based in Wigan and his club is 100 miles away.
