How many times have we been nilled in a 2nd half now? I seriously believe that this team could get relegated. We managed to improve on Oldhams effort by 6 whole points, and they are considered the weakest team in this division.

No blaming the ref, none of this was down to any individual decisions or turning points, this was a team that looks like its not good enough to stay up, in the most basic elements of the game they look clueless.

Kick it out on the full twice in a row.

We get a penalty near the end of the first half and go for 2, to give us a 4 point lead, when we need to go in with a decent points advantage. Its a crazy decision, is this our first visit there, do we not learn?

Drop Smith and and Craven, try else and Lyons in the  halves if we have to.

If Doro gets recalled i dont know where our go forward comes from.

If we get relegated, will we be good enough for a successful year in league 1, could we cope with the pressure of an away day at coventry?

One word to describe last week and I’ll use it again this week...

Embarrassing

The only positives I can take away from that game are Finnegan’s comments at the end. At least he saw the same game that we saw and that they gave up! I’m a little reassured that he acknowledges how bad it was as surely his own pride will drive him to drive them!

I turned it off straight after Full time, i think the only thing he could possibly say that i would consider a positive after that is " i have written my resignation letter and will hand it to the club as soon as i get off the coach in Widnes ".

He is at least as responsible for that as any of the blokes on the pitch.

I'll save my fiver from now on. I am Widnes through and through but that was a disgrace.

Does my heart no good at all! I would guess that the board are wondering why they bothered tbh.

Maybe a hint as why Sheens said goodbye?

Personally, I wouldn’t look to sack a Widnes coach after a few early season losses and for him to resign so early would finish his career! As an ex-full time players I wonder what experience he has of part-time training regimes etc though? Big chance for Finnegan to make a name for himself after this start!

Its less the loss and more the performance levels and the seeming lack of desire in the squad. I wouldnt normally call for a coach to be sacked this early but there are real danger signs with Finnigan, something is not right. And i would rather his coaching career was finished than the future of the club.

Think he should be given next week and see what the performance is like- not the result.

We then have a week off to see where we’re at.

Last time we played at Batley we lost 20-18, the time before that 32-12. Previous 2 were a draw and a 6 point loss.

This is in a completely different ball park.

Players putting poor efforts in defensively and heads dropping alarmingly. Fitness non-existent. All of these are coaching issues, but equally they are person player pride issues and I'm not personally sure there is enough of that going around.

Worst thing that could happen now is that the coach blames the players, the players blame the coach and there is a further deterioration. If it could get much worse...

I will say that this appears to be a coaching issue, the players look poorly conditioned, poorly coached and look devoid of all tactics.

However, I think the biggest responsibility has to be placed on the players. There are at least 5 players in that team who really don’t give a F***.

I noticed against West Wales and Whitehaven, Matty Smith did not celebrate once with the players when we scored a try. Evidently, he’s not bought into the team and probably does not want to be at Widnes, as exhibited by his performances.

I knew it was all over after just 20 minutes when the eloquent Tony Rae said that Widnes look tired.   We were playing down the slope at the time!

One thing I noticed is that Tom Gilmore got tackled a few times with the ball. That didn't seem to happen very often at Widnes which comes down to coaching and confidence.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but seriously, would you have Tom Gilmore or Pluto Smith?
