It’s forecasting sunny and 28 degrees at Wembley tomorrow, can anyone remember what the temperature was for our 1976  final against Saints?

Well the 28 degrees forecast will be in the shade.

I know on that day it was reported as just over 100 Fahrenheit (old money) on the pitch, and it certainly felt like it sat near the front, but the actual official temperature will have been somewhat less.

I would imagine it will actually be fairly similar today.

Of course in that heat the younger Widnes pack were expected to destroy the ageing Saints forwards. That didn’t happen. St Helens pack won the battle up front and a stand off originally from Widnes  (Peter Glynn)came off the bench and  scored 2 decisive tries on the back of the packs superiority.

I wonder if we’ll ever get back there?

It was 33°C when we went in 2019.

Not sure how hot it was on the ground, but I did notice Tarmac melting in a few places around the  Wembley area.

Similar I would say.

Thank God they had Robbie Paul pitchside to tell us how hot it was. As if that wasn't blindingly obvious.

I thought the BBC commentary and discussion far better than Sky. Not sure what Robbie Paul added.

The 1895 Cup - at what looks like a good game - only got a passing reference and about 30 seconds of the game. More coverage given to a Women's RL game, but I suppose any coverage of the Championship is welcomed.

Personally, I would like to see all the 'experts' binned off completely.

They add little or nothing to the coverage - can't we just make up our own minds instead?

And, why so many?!!

I often think that the reason there are so many 'experts' there is to deflect from the monotony of the modern day game.  They all scratch each others backs and none of them ever see a bad game.

And, if I don't ever see another try scored from a kick, it will be too soon.

Completely agree with you DV, today there were 3 commentators, 4 in the stadium studio, Robbie Paul and Tanya Arnold too, that makes 9 which is 7 too many.

I would say it is 8 too many. I would also like to have the commentator commentate on what’s actually happening rather than give opinions about what the ref got right or wrong and what players should or shouldn’t be doing.

I was watching a match last season broadcast from Australia and the commentator said something like ‘The referee definitely got that wrong this is going to cause controversy’. Basically he was just disagreeing with the ref and got social media up in arms because of his opinion.

I wouldn't know what the experts on the panel say because I don't watch or listen to them.Just switch  on at  Kick Off  then switch off at half time and at the end of the game. And how difficult is it to start a game on time ? Did it KO at 3.15 yesterday ?

At a guess most of those present are on contracts and will get paid, turn up or not. At least Robbie was kept off the pitch this time. Some could listen to Wilkin all day, I feel as if I did.

At least we had some NRL coverage to set it right with clear and sensible commentary.

BBC is so old school you expect Eddie Waring to be sat alongside Noble.

Does anyone else struggle to see the action when the game shifts from sun to the shaded area ?
