Wakefied Game

Good effort today, missing a few bodies we did well, Langtree would have loved it today.

Looked like Lloyd was carrying an injury as nowhere near his normal self.

Still missing some strike in the centres and Owens still making errors every game which lead to trys, which was the turning point in today's game.

Thought Butt, Murray, Lyons and Walker played well today and if players would have followed Walker we would have had a few chances as he broke tackles and was begging for an off load.

But against a full time team got to be happy with the heart and desire shown.

Plenty of effort and desire on show- another 5 minutes and we would have had them.

Certainly a respectable result and performance- was fearing a bit of a hammering before the game and at 6-20.

They blew a few chances in the first half but equally we defended with a lot of commitment- strange attempt by Jack to play the bomb which led to them taking the lead- definitely a turning point in the match- although the ref missing a forward pass on their try line from the kick off was a bad miss as we would have got the ball back at 6-12 with an attacking position.

All in all felt like a proper game between two serious sides in a much better atmosphere-pity we couldn't break 4500- but a pretty good crowd nevertheless. More of this please (hopefully with a better result!).

Not having " we did ok cos we lost by less than expected" at least two of their tries were our fault ( jack not fielding the ball and Walmsley not being put in row z ) , I'll accept they bombed two tries in the first half but I thought the interchange props were the difference, even though big ant hit it up well , brooks isn't good enough after a good start with Murray and Kirk , they bring on the big island boy who scored a try , hopefully soon we'll have some injured players back and be stronger in the middle minutes

All you can expect from a team is effort- we had the in bucket loads. Of course we need a bit more quality here and there, hopefully Coleman can get the chance to add that for next year.

As an aside. I thought having away fans in the north stand worked. Obviously helped they brought a few, though less then expected, but it created the best atmosphere all season.

Tried to follow the game on Twitter whilst in the Dominican

Seems like there was plenty of effort by the boys

one thing they did state is that Wilde was high tackled before he got up and scored

just wondering was there a case for an 8 point try or have I misunderstood the tweet

also if a high tackle why no sin bin or more?

Great effort today, lost it in the first 10 minutes of second half when they were a man down for 5

worried as we went  6-20 down,

so many forward passes missed by the TJ in their own half

Wakey are no great shakes at all

well done to the players today

He was 'coat hangered' but it was 8m away from the try-line.

@vikingkev looked high from where I was but not in the act of scoring so no 8 point try

I thought Kirk had an immense game - never took a backward step, needed some stopping with his powerful drives and tackled well.

To date, his best game for us by far.

Thought we played brilliantly today, punched well above are weight and pushed Wakefield all the way, think the difference today could’ve been a quality centre just to finish them small chances we had. Apart from that for the defensive efforts from individuals and the team was outstanding, if we can play this rugby for the rest of the season we will certainly be challenging near the top. Hopefully smash Shef next week because we certainly owe them one!

I'm a bit disappointed. You'd have thought we were playing the Aussies the way some fans talked before the game.Great effort but no points.Got to follow up this performance with a win at bogey team Sheffield.Let's not  get too carried away with a defeat.

Thought that myself but didn't see the high tackle (80 0dd year old knees aren't quick enough!).

With 'quick off the mark' rush defences there must be a place for the odd chip or grubber kick through - it worked for Brian Bevan!!!!

We don't have Brian Bevan.

Stuart Wright used to do that quite a bit as well.  Always happy to bet himself against the defenders.

@robbo

With Bev  you had Gerry Helme who could drop the ball on a sixpence, and it always seemed to bounce up for Bev!

Of course lines were only 5 yards apart and defences rushed Bev, but he played on that and just pointed for Helme when it was 'on'!

I was only ten years old then and looking back Helme just popped the ball onto a 'mark' and Bev knew where it was going!!!!

Of course our own Billy Thompson was a short kick merchant!!!!
