I see this is to be played in York next season, thus giving York an extra home game.

how’s that fair?

It isn’t fair anyway. Playing one team 3 times and the others 2 times isn’t fair.

I would get rid of it all together, Headingley this year was an embarrassment

I agree, the idea of playing one team three times is daft, but I like the idea of the bash and the chance to see all the teams at one venue.

York is a nice, cultured city to visit but I'd rather go to brash Blackpool for a summer bash.

Piss poor call from the RFL. The whole concept of it being called SUMMER Bash was to play it at a seaside resort, like Blackpool, to give the fans a weekend away. It needn't be Blackpool. Scarborough, Brighton, anywhere, but Leeds & now York just doesn't do it for me.

The RFL do loads of things wrong, this just adds to that list.

This does not seem like a well thought out plan.

The stadium is an ideal size, but I used to live in york and , though it was twenty years ago , there was not a large ammount of reasonably priced hotel accommodation of a mid range standard , which Blackpool has in droves.

Also, York in summer can get incredibly busy and while it has plenty of  restaurants and pubs and a couple of decent clubs , so do most towns and cities.

Though we loved living in York, I just think it is the best of places for the summer bash and as has been mentioned , for some reason a seaside town seems like a better fit.

If it's in York then that's a real bad shout.

If I want to travel up to York I'd probably go when Widnes play their away fixture there, I doubt many fans that travel will want to go to the same ground twice.

I can only assume that Blackpool FC don't want it there, as the fans are all screaming out to have it back in Blackpool.  I would fully expect this to be the last one if they are doing away with Magic, they'll surely do away with this.

@viking-man As a widnes fan and rugby league fan living in york i think it's great for the city , just a shame the ground is outside the city

No it's not fair! The RFL have their favourites....at the moment York are their favourites!

They are looking at city teams as the future of the top division and any clubs with a history that are in a city will be given preferential treatment, York, Sheffield, London, they’re probably looking at it from a data analytics point to view, like 10% of populous would be a target for interest in the sport, 5% interested in going to a game 2.5% will go to a game etc take Sheffield for example over 500,000, york over 200,000, London in my opinion has failed in the past but if they get them back up to super league with a competitive squad could average 10,000 within the 12 year period, Widnes could only get 7-8000 if they played wire or saints with a big away crowd

But there is a direct bus from the station and it's at the park and ride so its not difficult to get too.

On another point, have you seen how much they do in the community compared to Widnes? Yet again this week there was free kids rugby leagu intro session all over the city.

Think you're missing the point, there isn't an appeal to go to the same ground twice.  I never said it was difficult to get to.  Although, you've no idea where I'd be coming from.

Widnes put on free camps in half term as well, are you comparing like for like here?  What does 'all over the city' mean?  Genuinely interested to know what York do in the community.  Do you have a link or info?

I like York.

I do think the Bash is finished realistically.

Who do we think we will play; Swinton?
