Got to say that looked pretty poor - why play it in such a large stadium?
did any club make any money out of that
if you need to p
ay it why not in a smaller stadium - the dire ground for instance, not a very good advert but some of the rugby was good
There was about 200 people left for the York match yesterday, surprised there were hardly any York fans there and not so surprised there were no Newcastle fans there. There was a couple of hundred Whitehaven and Workington fans there. But the RL cocked it up by putting the 2 best supported clubs on the Sunday in the first match, then a lot of them left, if we’d been 2nd on, I think quite a few would have stayed for the York match.
As soon as our match finished there was no atmosphere, although most of the Barrow players stayed and sat behind me supporting Workington!
By the time York played it was like watching a old A team match, and by the time I left at halftime, there was only about a 100 fans left.
I can’t see much point in the bash, it’s not got the same support as magic, and the RL don’t help it, by not putting anything on for the fans entertainment, like they do at Magic, and the stadium was much too big, I don’t know how many were there on Saturday, but there was only about 3,000 for our match yesterday.
Looked poor as TV fodder tbh! If it hadn't been for the commentators beauty and banter it would (and should!) have died.
Got to say that the very poor refereeing did not help matters. Did Barrow knock on at the start of our game? Comments about 'missing' something were made but it sounded very much as if ref criticism had been banned!
All in all a pretty poor effort all round - too many empty seats and no effort to raise the entertainment level. Was Headingly chosen because there weren't any alternatives in Yorkshire? There does seem to be a marked fall in Yorkshire fans travelling in the Championship - is SL similar?
Blackpool was just about right for Championship games tbh.
6000 on Saturday and 4000 Sunday according to League Express. As soon as Blackpool was unavailable the whole thing should've been sheved until next year,if they couldn't get a suitable replacement. Its not just a ground that is needed but somewhere near a town or city centre. What is there for people to do in a suburb of Leeds ? Blackpool is perfect.
RFL have little or no interest in the Championship. Even the title “Summer Bash” belittles the game. Was there any promotion or anything laid on to attract interest to the event?
I am not sure that the concept of this weekend of games at one venue adds anything to the game. If it is to continue, as has been said, Blackpool is a better venue, being a smaller ground and at least the attraction of a weekend there. Maybe having it in Cornwall, to promote the game there, but not sure how many would travel that far for the game.

Is that culminative attendances Sinbad as it wasn’t ever looking that full?
@johnnyboy It will be.Most people only watch their own teams
Blackpool is the only venue for it in my opinion, lots for the kids and adults and the ground in close proximity.
Either play it at Blackpool or scrap it completely.
Much rather have the Final back on a neutral ground like Warrington or Saints, even Leeds tbf than persist with the Bash. Especially next season as if Leigh were to be replaced with Toulouse, the attendance at the Bash could be horrific.
