Don't forget that running a stadium does incur a cost in cleaning, repair, management, up dating etc etc,

As tenants I assumed that repairs and updating was the responsibility of the landlord.

WVIPS announced to be handing over 22k to the club. Should be enough for a decent couple of players on a year deal to provide some competition.

i say that I don’t know how much PT players earn but don’t imagine it’s that much!

I am sure someone on this board will be savy or know what money part time players are offered. It can not be that much depending on the quality of the player. Is taking loan and dual is probably the cheaper option, but i would like another fullback, centre and a big prop. JJ is out for a while and FOZ does need interchanging and not sure why Doolan is not used more? I think Lyons can play hooker?

@mckviking from my understanding the VIPs money should purely be for player retention/recruitment not for paying bills same as the old scheme used to be

Yes great the vips

also if you think of the players we have lost - off our payroll, there should be a fair chunk of cash there to get new players

The Doncaster full game is on YouTube so obviously the ability to stream games is available, why not monetize it

@mckviking people probably would kick off paying a fiver and hearing a robot from the referees mic for the whole first half based on the Doncaster video!

if they could do it like York did with the radio commentary side by side it could work. The club obviously want to push for people to actually attend though which I understand.

maybe they should offer it internationally first see what the take up is like 🤣

Maybe worth keeping a running total of away support vising the DCBL Stadium compared with our travelling support.

Maybe useful in the argument for upgrading whenever we get there!!!

@scouseviking55 I totally understand that it would affect attendances but how many did widnes take to Doncaster? How many wouldn’t go if it was £20 to stream it? Stream it internationally: USA/Canada and Australia/New Zealand

Regarding the stadium, the council must understand that without widnes Vikings RLFC the stadium would not make any significant revenue or benefit the town in any meaningful way. Does anyone know what the long term plan is for the stadium because it seems like the council holds us to ransom rather than working with the club. I might be wrong so does anyone have more insight on this

@mckviking I'd love to know the thinking the council had when deciding to build a 13,000 seater stadium. Of course, Naughton Park wasn't fit for purpose and had to go, but honestly, how many times since it was built has it been close to being full for any sporting occasion ? Rugby fixtures will never come close and the football team certainly won't ever trouble the maximum capacity. A bit of a white elephant if you ask me. I doubt the club can do anything off it's own back without council say-so to generate revenue. For the Vikings to move forward, they will need a stadium of their own - however unlikely that is. It doesn't have to be a grand affair, but at least a large chunk of matchday revenue would come to the club itself. Even when the Chemics were in their heyday years ago, crowds weren't that fantastic. How do you get out of a situation of having no money and being stuck in a stadium that isn't yours ? It's a very difficult one and unless there's some moneybags sugar daddy on the horizon(which there isn't)I wonder how anything will change.
