Tyrer 3 and Smith 7 the highlights surely.

Be interesting to see who gets 8, 10 and 13.

Logan at 9 but hearing he is struggling quite bad with an injury, so the neighbours cat told me 😃

We need another hooker anyway.

Not sure why we didn’t sign Hulme/Wood from last years reserves.

Training has started. I’ve got no idea whether he is injured or not though.

Widnes Vikings’ squad numbers in full:

1. Jack Owens

2. Jayden Hatton

3. Jake Spedding

4. Steve Tyrer

5. Deon Cross

6. Danny Craven

7. Matty Smith

8. Paul Clough

9. Logan Tomkins

10. Matt Cook

11. Shane Grady

12. Adam Lawton

13. Kenny Baker

14. Lee Jewitt

15. Connor Dwyer

16. Owen Farnworth

17. Joe Lyons

18. Lloyd Roby

19. Joe Edge

20. Owen Buckley

21. Calum O'Neill

22. Josh Wilde

23. Lewis Else

24. Will Tilleke

25. Daniel Hill

26. Ollie Brookes

Doesn't look a bad team, but a lot of inexperience lower down the squad and will struggle with injuries. A couple more experienced forwards needed to add to the squad.

First 17 looks good but after that very underwhelming indeed. Need five more good additions to compete.

A bit harsh to say the least. Yes, we could do with a larger squad but some of the higher numbered players aren't bad....

First 18 I would match that against team in the division, above that? Shaky. However, I do wonder why an 18 man squad is not sufficient.

I know the answer but before SL players would play 40+ games a year, injuries were the same if not worse and yet, we would have a squad of 15 players of experience. How did we cope?

One thing that we don't know is whether we have talent in those youngsters that needs a challenge to show itself.

Optimistic I grant you but if you haven't got some optimism we might as well wrap it up now!

I don’t think we have a bad squad to be honest, probably not the best in champ but will be playing as a team,

depends on early fixtures and injuries, looking at first 2 fixtures you could not have asked for better, it’s the injuries we need to avoid

could be through to a CC game at home against SL team to qualify for the titanic cup and be on a roll by then

Maybe some loan players, not loads but a couple could be useful?

Yes, a couple of big, nasty loan forwards would be great, but how easy will that be now we are part-time?
