If you look at the games against Batley last year, when we were tiring they brought on big forwards who helped open the floodgates for them, Lawton coming off the bench could do similar for us IMO.
10 mins before half time!!
One factor will be the pace of our game, if Fozzie plays like he did against Batley. Between Matty Smith and him we were much more varied than last year. This should give Craven more space rather than him being the obvious marked go-to man.
Our front row might be a bit young but their appetite to drive hard and fight for ground was a massive change tbh and could trouble defences this year.
However we play Lawton he is a major danger to oppositions and will attract attention because he demands it, one defender covering him isn't enough and teams know that. It's just how to use him to the best effect. It was noticeable that switching him from right side attack to left created problems for defences. Maybe a more free rein for him in attack could work.
Or maybe we are all over-thinking it!!!!!
Agreed I think Lawton would be far more effective coming on after 20 minutes or so against tired defences and he’s coming on fresh, he’s a handful but we over used him last season to the point at times it was almost as if it was our only idea giving him the ball, bringing him on fresh and picking our moments to feed him the ball we will see a more effective him
Nice comments, still think doro should be number 18
look after our own first
Lyons should be on the bench, you cannot have 4 forwards on there
onwards and upwards

Inevitably it will be horses or courses at times and any coach needs that flexibility, which Simon didn't have last year!
Some of our lads have jobs that do interfere with their availability and just how and when that happens can force changes and selection, so it's not always easy. However, we'll see how we go today and that should give us a pointer to the season.

No Lawton, Spedding, Tilleke, Brown, Surely if they were fit they should be playing and not just making numbers up
Pack looks decent and a decent looking bench, suppose you would say Tilleke is down the pecking order with the arrival of Doro.
Is Grady injured or working?
Good luck to them, certainly got enough experience in the pack now to win down there.
I think I recognise maybe 6 of the London team so even with those players out I expect us to win
No Owens?
I'm trying to tune in to Radio Merseyside, having trouble, is anyone else?
Shame Owens is missing but that team is more than good enough to win this match. No excuses needed!
