Wouldn't say no to Chris Chester but can't see him leaving a performance director role at one of the only 2 clubs in with a realistic chance of promotion.
If we hang on a couple of weeks Powell will probably be available or we can go for his assistant Ryan Sheridan as another Widnes old boy.
Well I suppose he was left with little choice, injuries certainly haven’t helped, whoever takes over has a mountain to climb - first game away at fev !
expect an interim Berwick/ smith unless there is someone already lined up that coached at bradford
@ditton-donkey
Ryan O'brien has taken temporary charge.

and this sums the club up to a tee, the whole operation is a farce

Why? Most clubs will appoint an interim coach when they part company with their previous coach eg Leeds.

No disrespect to him but Ryan who ? no experience in the game another sham, surely Beswick or Smith should be in charge for now. Another CEO fudge up
If you read the club statement, it says he will be supported by others in the coaching team and senior players, so it looks like both Beswick and Smith will also be involved on an interim basis. The key will be how long it will take to appoint a new Head Coach and, of course, who it is. I guess whoever we appoint will not please everyone.
I've not doubt whoever runs the show Sunday it won't make any difference but good luck to them 🤞
It gets to the point where you have to ask yourself why you support a club if you don’t like the way it is run, don’t agree with any of the decisions they make or measures they put in place and don’t like the effort they put in or displays put up by the players.
Some people need to take a step back, a deep breath and ask themselves why they bother. Don’t like the last coach, don’t like the INTERIM coach and undoubtedly won’t like the long term replacement. Why are you bothering ?
@frankg Might as well join the totally ridiculous group and suggest Craig Bellamy!!
Alternatively you might listen to many of our young players who say that Ryan was a major influence on them at the club.
Of course what would they know, who wants a coach who contacts well with players?
We are up against it and we will have to work our way out, which is what the club is trying to do.
The interim coach won’t matter, as long as we can get a permanent coach in a fortnight, as we will lose at Featherstone whoever’s in charge and the week after we haven’t got a match, as it’s the challenge cup.

Because people still care about the club despite the constant criticisms and negativity. If the moaners didn't bother then gates would be even smaller than they already are.

Spot on pal maybe RV and the rest need to realise you cannot defend the undefinable. Take one hardcore fans donations to the the club away doesn't seem much to the pricks on here but it escalates and before you know it we are visiting Cornwall.
They still don't get it Sinbad all we want is a decent watch on a Sunday afternoon and to look forward to the next game.
@mick-george Sorry Mick, you seem to have missed the point of what I was trying to say, but I’ll give it one last go as we are amongst a very small band of people left supporting Widnes.
Us ‘pricks’ do understand that all you (we) want to see is a Widnes team giving it a decent go when we play. Do you really, honestly imagine that people paying to get into the ground to watch Widnes week in, week out want them to lose and play really badly ?
One of our troubles is that the players we have aren’t very good. Not only are they not very good, they are not a very good standard for the League they are currently in. It’s not their fault - try as they might they aren’t good enough for the job and most should not have been bought by the club.
Another trouble is that the most recent coach we had - decent bloke though he undoubtedly is - wasn’t up to the job. Lack of experience, lack of necessary skills for the job, perhaps lack of leadership skills all contributed to his failure to get the team winning. That said, with the players at his disposal, even if he’d had the necessary coaching and people skills it probably would have made very little difference.
Another trouble is that the well meaning group who manage the club, aren’t really ‘fit for purpose’. They performed heroically, with the financial backing of a small percentage of the community in stopping us from ‘going under’ a couple of years ago but none of them - none of them - had any experience of running a (semi) professional rugby league club and they too are out of their depth. They have been hampered by a lack of cash / lack of understanding of how to use the cash they had. As I keep banging on about a lack of signing players for a key position is poor judgement, to do it two years in a row show a lack of capability to learn lessons, for a club to do it for three or four years just beggars belief.
The biggest trouble we had, which is still causing us massive troubles was the previous ownership of the club and the wilful mismanagement by members of the board. One or two were obviously not the sharpest tools in the box but one or two of them knew what they were doing. Effectively they undermined the. Luv and the damage they caused is still being felt.
So, to return to your point - why can’t we just turn up and give Featherstone a game ? The answer is we simply don’t have the players to do it. We are not a strong enough team to put pressure on the top 6 teams in the League, let alone Featherstone who are a cur above. Because we can’t get control over teams they turn the tables and get control over us and we lose, and it will be a heavy loss to Featherstone, all things being equal.
Despite all of the above some of us ‘pricks’ still support the club and try to add something to genuine efforts to try and help the club out of the hole it’s in. One of the potentially best vehicles for ideas is this forum as it is frequented by people who care about the club - perhaps one or two recent newcomers to the forum notwithstanding. My earlier post wasn’t aimed at you, or indeed anyone in particular it was more at the recent rise of negative posts that were written just for the sake of being negative. So I repeat, if people don’t think the club has a future, clear off and do something else and let the people who genuinely care (like yourself and Sinbad as examples) try and figure out ways to help the club.
