How much is a 'walk-up' ticket on the matchday?
Paulie xx
£22 I think
That's why the game is dying. Too dear.
Should be £15 tops for watching part-time Rugby League. £22 will mean our attendances will remain around 1500.
Just my opininon, mind, but 12,000 empty seats isn't a good look.
Paulie xx
Yeah, I'd agree. £22 starts to sound expensive now. To be fair though, the C19 age has meant I've re focused my idea as to what is important in my life and RL has dropped down a few rungs.

I think a lot of 'Fans' have got out of the habit, and will not be returning.

Look guys a season ticket blows your argument out of the water a standard ticket is £15.38p a game & for +65 concession £12.70p. You cannot argue with that but no doubt you will find some excuse to?
The whole idea of the match day walk up being more expensive is to encourage season ticket purchases. If the match day fee was reduced it would encourage more people just to pay for every game on the day itself. Also if any game was played on a bad weather day some would not bother turning out. In order to forward plan the club needs to roughly know what income it can expect getting as many season tickets sold prior to the season contributes greatly to this.
Hopefully as many people as possible will buy a season ticket in order to assist the club. If we want a decent team & to improve it going forward it has to be paid for. A £15 walk up fee as has been suggested may well lead to the demise of the club.

You are presuming that everybody can afford to pay for STs upfront at this time of the current economic climate, maybe shift workers who may miss several Sunday games or may just have lost their jobs. In an ideal RL world, all fans will be buying a ST before next Wednesday's Early Bird deadline, but that won't be feasible for most. My regular purchase (2 adult, 1 child) is £452 before next Wednesday, then £492 afterwards. I can do it, but the bigger picture is that a lot can't. It's not all about me. Taking out the finance option means the club only get the monies off the Finance Company in the same way as they get Walk Up money, piece meal.

Paulie I am well aware not all can pay out large amounts of money for season tickets for 3 or 4 in a family but the monthly payment option is there to assist with that. I know even then it will be difficult for some.
My main point was challenging the point that a suggestion of £15 for a walk up ticket is the maximum it should be. That is the price to watch non league football & what Southport FC charge an adult. Even 4th tier football at Tranmere varies from £22 to £25 on the day depending on the stand chosen. As we are 2nd tier rugby I think our prices matching that level shows our prices are as low as they can be to be able to sustain the club & are priced as low as they can be whilst ensuring the club's survival.
I accept that the club is between a rock and a hard place to an extent with the match day prices but at the end of the day it comes down to value for money as well, and £22 to watch a poor side won't attract many none diehards.
Just for comparison, had a quick scout on Championship RU prices, Nottingham are £20 for a seat and Doncaster £20, so similar but still slightly cheaper.

This season I've taken a Runcorn Linnets ST, it was £95 (marketed as Footy For A Fiver), my Grandson gets in for free (U16). It has been great value, They are playing some decent stuff, and crowds are on the up. They are interacting well with the community, and last Saturday had 1078 for the visit of FC Utd of Manc. A walk up is £8. I know it's not RL, but if you want a pint (draught) then it's there, the food options at the kiosk are 10 times better than what's on offer at the DCBL. If Widnes are trying to get crowds up at 3500-4000 then they won't do it charging £22 on a match day for 2nd tier RL, with crap options in the concourses. I appreciate that there has to be an incentive for fans to take up the ST option, but you can bet your bottom dollar, that come late summer, there will be cheap options to get walk ups in. It always happens.

Posters on this forum must be in the South Stand - you can get 3x pints of Coors Light in the North for £10.
I wouldn’t pay 95p to watch Runcorn Linnets, never mind £95! You must be desperate if you think watching the Linnets is more entertaining than watching Widnes playing RL, even last season, and I think with the players we’ve brought in, next season should be a lot better.
When did I say it's more entertaining than watching Widnes? Unlike some, I like lots of sports, I watch lots of sports 'live', if you want to paint yourself into a corner by just watching Widnes, then go ahead and knock yourself out. There is no RL being played 'til next year, I'm watching 'live' sport most weeks, what are you doing?

That was years ago and that bar was hardly ever open.

I like watching different sports but only on tv, I would rather save my money to spend on my favourite sport and team. As I said I wouldn’t pay £95 to go and watch Amateur football, but if you want to, that’s fine, but I don’t think you can compare paying half as much to watch Runcorn Linnets with watching Widnes Vikings , and saying that Widnes should charge the same price.
I don’t know, but I would imagine Widnes pay a lot more out in players wages than Runcorn do, and pay more out in overheads.
Just been down the market. Two concessions a junior primary and a free one for an under five, £350. A good price for an afternoon out with our two grandsons, can’t beat that. A steady stream down there as well buying
@mick-george 3 Coors for £10 was available last few matches of last season actually 🙄
