Roadworks outside Odsal

Came past Odsal tonight and the dual carriageway that runs from the M606 up past the main entrances to Odsal (Rooley Lane A6036) has one lane closed due to roadworks and was really slow going. would advise anyone going the game to avoid the M606 and as you come off the M62 at junction 26 take the slip road down to the roundabout and then take the 2nd exit, Bradford Road, which will bring you to Odsal from the other end which as far as I know doesn't have any roadworks on it.

I usually park on the side road that goes to a industrial estate,it’s the first exit at the roundabout at the end of the M606, it’s the exit just before the one to the dual carriage way that goes past the ground. It’s about a 10 minute walk.

For anyone going in an oldish car or minibus or large van check if you need to pay a congestion charge as there is a clean air zone in Bradford.

FV If you are going to park there then come off the M606 at exit 2 Euroway Estate and at the end of the slip road turn left and then 1st right on to Staithgate Lane which runs alongside the M606 and that will bring you out at the same place avoiding the roundabout at the end of the M606.

Prisoner, passenger cars of any age are exempt from the CAZ but not private hire vehicles, vans, mini buses, coaches etc that don't have a Euro 6 diesel engine or Euro 4 petrol engine, they are liable to pay the charge. Odsal stadium itself lies just outside of the zone but the roundabout at the Bradford end of the M606 is in it. Using the above route will avoid it as long as you don't go to the end of Staithgate Lane where the roundabout is but as I say if you are in a passenger car you have nothing to worry about.

If you are in a vehicle that isn't exempt and are worried that you may have strayed into the Zone there is NO way to check, you have to either pay the charge,£7.00 upwards depending on the size of the vehicle, within 6 days of entering the zone or a £120 fine + user charge will be issued without further notice. Most people just pay the fine within the 6 days and have done with it whether guilty or not.

And finally, if you use the route as described in my opening message you will avoid the CAZ, the roundabout at the top of the dual carriageway where the roadworks are (Odsal Top) is not in the zone.

It's all a big money making con, its not like the wind never blows in Bradford.
