Red Cards !!??

If the rule as it stands is to prevail then any cut head will earn a red card, so accidents don't happen?

Pathetic decision that was last night. You have to apply common sense and everyone (even Wire fans) could see that. As usual we implement rule changes that effects everyone and I’ll wager in a few weeks/months there’ll be adjustments.

You then have the farcical situation where tonight’s WCC these rules don’t apply (because the Aussies don’t want them) and the RFL bends over backwards for them. Games gone.

James was commentating on Radio Merseyside last night with Phil Kinsella, both are very experienced and knowledgable RL fans. They, like all sensible people, understand the need to protect players but were incredulous at some of the head contact decisions.

Liam Moore was the video ref at the game and he has also dished out red cards for head contact this season. He is in the middle for tonights match and I wonder how he can cope with applying different rules on consecutive nights?

Who would be a referee under the current RFL hierarchy?

What has happened regarding tackles below the hips? There was talk of some new rules when players got knee damage iirc?

And the RU have similar problems but they have a Board meeting on the ground before making a decision!!

Just another blip was Wire being granted a penalty try for a high tackle, but in the first half a Hull player was tackled high in a similar position (two hands round his head!) No penalty though!!!

@sandgroper

Agree with you re the high tackles. I thought there were at least 3 "two handed around the head" tackles which were ignored by the ref.

@sunny The sending off was diabolic yet the direct hit to the head on Ashton for the penalty try was 20 times worse yet no card. Once the new rules come in next year the game will be dead. Of course we should protect the players but it is a contact sport.

The RFL will now be taken to the cleaners by the ex players suing them, all they need to say to the judge is why did you not implement the new rules when we where playing, open and shut case. In contact with a lot of ex players on social media and all are saying the game will soon be dead, hard not to agree with them.
