So is it pretty much done or is more to come? Hope we bring in a few more big forwards before Jan

Maybe we should all light candles and pray!
The Covid situation might yet make second string Aussies to chance their arm. The Aussie salary really does limit the NRL but that has to be a rather fanciful wish.
Maybe once Tomkins is off our books we will have some extra funds to spend.
Looks as if he is still hanging on Sunny! I was hoping that we would have had another place available by now. Can't see how he can demand paying if he doesn't play but manages to work!

We can but trust that our management knows what it is doing and that they will close his contract as soon as they legally can. Even if he suddenly becomes fit to play I doubt that we need him now.

If he is in the fire service as mentioned, most brigades now have a policy whereby anyone wanting secondary employment has to apply for permission for their second job. As he is probably still in his 2 year probationary period it may well have been declined ( if he applied for it)
@ditton-donkey
So then can we yet cancel/void/whatever his contract? We need the money allocated him to be freed to enable us to sign someone else.
Depends on the terms of his contract, still think something not quite right here
What’s odd is that the club haven’t said anything about one of our supposed highest paid players not turning out for the club for an entire season, who is still on the books despite us signing / resigning three other players in his position.
The ‘elephant in the room’ just gets larger and larger.

Both Simon Finnigan and Phil Finney have referenced the Tomkins situation in numerous interviews last season. The last time both spoke publicly about it, it seemed very unlikely that Tomkins will play again and that the club are doing what they think is best in that situation.
I agree that it is a peculiar situation, but to say they haven't said anything is inaccurate.
Fair enough James, bit of an exaggeration on my part, but I don’t think I’ve seen update throughout the recruitment program since the end of the season.
Squad numbers will be interesting for next season
Still a lot of bargaining going on atm in the league generally, and still waiting for the funding announcement.
So still time for a prop or two maybe!
Just reading about 4 West Banks Bears lads signing for Wigan Academies.
well done to them
such a shame that we have had to forego our Academy due to costs I believe.
that production line of local talent would really help in years to come IMO
heres hoping at some stage in the future it becomes viable again
I notice that the amended team info on the club site still includes Tomkins.
Just a thought that, with his job possibly limiting his playing options and with our newly recruited playing staff, he might be included as a player/assistant coach, as could Matty Smith I guess.
Plenty of experience to pass on and spot talent for future squad.
Of course I could just be showing signs of game starvation!!!!!
