Props

I think we need to get another prop in on loan now.  Do others agree? With one prop Levy out possibly for the season, one Farnworth just returning from injury, 1 Tilleke hardly played another Grady (never a prop) out for a few weeks. We only have Doro & Dupree match fit and Farnworth now returning. Baker is back but another non prop & Tilleke who has hardly played this year for some reason. We have some much harder games to come & if we do not strengthen I fear quite a few losses coming up.

Not sure Levy can be classed as missing as he hasn't even played a game for us.Bennion was a name often bandied around on here, think he's at Rochdale.

Think Baker is OK at prop. With Farnworth back this week we are probably Ok for the short term but would hope we are on the look out for possible options to strengthen.

Deja vu all over again!! Surely everyone realises that we need plenty of props because they are more likely to be injured than in other positions?

@mt Bakers not a prop, will do a job there but should only be as a last resort.

Being realistic, he’s going to be playing prop anyway though. Given Brown has played loose forward in every game and done a very solid job. So we are better off counting him as a prop. Do we need one more anyway? Probably.

Probably ? Actually we need two more, Farnworth will only play half the games if we are lucky and Doro and Dupree will suffer big time through playing to many minutes. God help us if either of them are out injured.

It's not as easy as this, there is a lack of quality middles in the game full stop.  Certainly those that are available at this time of year.  You talk about a prop on loan we are likely thinking of a Super League player who isn't getting in, there aren't too many quality players floating around.

Michael Lawrence isn't getting a game at Huddersfield and could be worth a months loan, Dan Norman has done very well at Leigh but they have a dual reg with Saints so we wouldn't get him.  Tom Holroyd at Leeds, Rob Butler at Warrington, Ethan Havard at Wigan?  With the reserves league back, clubs may be happy just letting them play in this instead of sending them out on loan to other clubs.

Passionate Pascal would love 2 props, especially with Levy out for the season possibly. I am realistic and probably not many of quality available, but hopefully we are looking. 👌👍

We need to settle for quantity not quality we are just a mid table championship team and no quality would come here.

Barrow got the loan players from Salford who were important in their win against us, that is the route we need to be going down.

I can see Bent being used as a prop if needs be too.

Not a great situation all in all.

Am I missing something? We have one prop with a long-term injury, but still have five props available - Farnworth, Baker, Dupree, Doro and Tilleke. Would a short-term loan do us any good at this stage? Where are these props that we can sign for the season, even if we could afford them? Alec Gerrard anyone?

Maybe the club is looking for short-term loans to follow-up to cover for any further injuries, but little point now when we currently have five of our six props available.

Owen Farnworth is a good player, who has been unlucky with injuries. Maybe he is now due a decent injury-free run. Alex Walmsley played just five games for St Helens over two seasons in 2018-19. He came back fit and has not done too bad! Let’s hope Farnworth can do the same for the rest of the season.

I was disappointed at the performance against Barrow, but still confident of a play-off position this season. The next four games may be a challenge - York, Newcastle, Leigh and Batley - with fingers crossed for wins against Newcastle and Batley and maybe even York and you never know a big bank holiday game against Leigh may be just the thing to lift our confidence for the rest of the season. I would be happy with two wins!

Disagree my old friend as I would not want you playing or an average Simms Cross prop forward. Possibly you need some passion and get your boots on. 😂👍

@ditton-donkey

Bradford showed what can be done with a concentrating defence, frustrating Leigh's pack pretty well.

Recruiting part timers isn't that easy, even if they are what we need. Their home circumstances have a big say in which club they go to and we are on the edge of the player pool. Tyler is travelling across the hill but he's young!
