If the rumours about players who are supposed to be leaving us and going to Oldham next season are true(Craven Lawton Farnworth), then they will be playing 3rd division rugby, after Oldham got beat in the playoffs today, by the Crusaders.
Yet still offered better terms than we can offer are willing to .
Depends if they think a bit more money is more important than testing themselves against harder opposition and trying to improve their standards.

In 2023 and treading water at a mid championship club money will always be the main factor on their next move. Apart from Farnsy they are all getting on and no hope of SL so what does "testing themselves" get them?
If you’re not young and ambitious then I am sure a good contract is a bigger motivator than bettering yourself against better players. If the rumours about Craven getting a two year deal at Oldham are correct and he’s being paid good money I wouldn’t blame him for going. Farnworth for me is just about young enough that he could still make the grade and going to Oldham (if accurate) would be a backward step. But with the possible exception of Joe Edge I can’t see any of the current squad being seriously targeted by SL clubs.
@farnworth-viking Can't see how anyone could begrudge a PT player looking to earn more money? These lads risk their long term health playing the game, they should get rewarded as much as they can.
The main message here as I see it is that players need to be convinced of the.value of playing for Widnes, which in Championship terms shouldn't be as hard as it appears.
Oldham have today confirmed the signing of Joe Wardle from Leigh. Not sure why they haven't yet announced Craven,Lawton and Farnworth.
@sinbad Widnes possibly have asked them not to announce anything till season end.
Maybe, alan. But Leigh's season isn't over yet either.Don't see the difference.Perhaps they want to anounce their new signings one by one.
Signings can’t be announced before the season ends without the agreement of both clubs.

Yep, unless you're Mark Aston, in which case those rules seem not to apply!
After signing Wardle and the strong rumour of those from us, Oldham must have a big wage bill for next season. Do they have a new benefactor?
@steve yes been taken over by a new consortium led by former player Mike Ford also they have moved to playing at Boundary Park.
