What do you reckon of us making playoffs, next 2 games crucial but even if we win both we are not in playoff places
looking at fixtures going forward :
Prob losses :
fev, home, Leigh away, sadly barrow away
even if we win the rest we will still struggle to make it
thoughts?
Home losses v Batley and Barrow very costly.
Embarrassing that we are talking about being on the fringes of the Play Off Race and we haven't had half a season yet.
If we beat Bradford, Fax, Sheff, Newcastle at home, plus the bottom 4 in the remaining fixtures against them and squeeze a couple of wins out of Barrow at Headingley and York at home we have a chance.
But I'm not holding my breath!
To make the playoffs we will have to improve significantly.
We have 5 wins we have beaten the bottom 4 sides and beat Halifax away which was a good win although in a mud bath.
The bottom 4 sides have won 6 games between them all season only one of those wins Dewsbury beat Sheffield was not against another bottom 4 side.
The Sheffield game will give as an indication where we are but if we finish 7th that would probably be reasonable at this point. We don't appear a match for the Top 6 on present form.
It would be interesting to know who at the Club is or was responsible for identifying and recruiting players if it was Simon Finnegan then ok but if it wasn't their should be some transparency and accountability.
We haven't got this right for a number of seasons under a number of coaches.
Let's be honest, we haven't had a good season since 2016.
Bottom, Bottom (relegated), 11th, Covid, 8th... woeful
For me 7th is a bare minimum acceptable as a top half finish, otherwise what is the point ??
Barrow look the only top six side that are vulnerable to being caught by any of the group below them. If we can beat them twice (away and bash) we will have a decent chance of making the six. Obviously also depends how strongly Bradford, Sheffield, and Newcastle finish the season. We play two of these twice and Newcastle at home and really need to win most of these as well. Tough but not impossible.
@cj91 I spoke to a player before the season started, around February time and the squad saw making the play offs as a minimum for the season.
I agree with what has been said in these posts, but lets not forget Craven and Owens have missed most of the games this season, let's see how the team goes if and when those players are available for selection.
I think the next 8 weeks will decide if we finish in the top6. If we play well, and have some good luck with injuries for a change, we can win 6/7 of these matches and we will be in with a good chance of making it.
Sheffield a
Bradford h
Barrow a
York h
London h
workington a
Dewsbury h
Newcastle h
Won't beat Barrow either away or at Headingley and won't finish top six.Another mediocre season and more tales of injury woe.
Barrow aren’t that good. Let’s not forget they drew at home with London and made hard work of beating Dewsbury on Sunday. I won’t go as far as to say we should beat them but it really shouldn’t be considered a write off.
Agree MT us or bradford should be taking that place off barrow, barrow have been extremely lucky with injuries all there main players eg samutt, miloudi and ritson to name a few all available for large parts, an injury or two to these players and let’s see how good they are then take 2 of them out for as long as craven and Owens have been out and I think they would be lower in the table.
as for us I do think we will probably just miss out at the end of the season think the next 3 games are crucial we win 3 out of 3 and we will be looking in a totally different position but I’m not confident of that
We will be lucky to scrape in the play offs would be nice though.
Anyway good luck to the player's tonight COYV
We will be lucky to scrape in the play offs ….
We don’t just need luck, we need a miracle!
Gone from unlikely to highly improbable.
