Interesting that we have about 1500 ST supporters, about the same VIQI contributors and maybe the same yesterday. That is the hard core of our support.   A winning side will always draw fellow travellers, 'good time' supporters if you like.

Not decrying that approach if cash is scarce, but without the hard core there is no club.

Going back a bit but in the mid 90's the crowd was limited to the Lowerhouse Lane terrace - again about 1500. Coincidence?

If you think there  was 1500 in the stadium yesterday you need to get your eyesight checked.

You'll be lucky if it was a 1000.

Don’t bother going to the optician, because the powers that be don’t simply count bums in seats, their figures include people like me with a season ticket who aren’t attending at the mo.

I agree

The attendance was really poor

I would say close to 1000.

Even the North stand singers were only 6 or 7 in number

Let's have some context.

£22 for a game on the back of a 60+ defeat against an average team the week before, against another bang average team where there is absolutely nothing to play for after a hugely underwhelming season.

No incentive to buy a ticket, no real promotion from the club, no hot food available to purchase.  Hardly going to get bums on seats!  I've said before the whole match day experience needs looking at next year, it's non-existent and that might be due to Covid and reducing the amount of people at the stadium on game day granted, but hopefully next year it's something that can be improved significantly.

I personally don't need an incentive to buy a ticket although I understand the point of course.

Even die hard fans I know are not going.

I decided to attend no matter what

I'm not convinced about this so called match day experience. It sounds good but it's just a soundbite.People go for the rugby which has been absolute garbage for a long time. Not many are staying away because there's no pre game and half time entertainment and no pies or hot dogs.

You're missing the point, it's the overall standards of the club.  The rugby will always come first, of course it will.  A winning team will get people through the turnstyles, if Widnes are in the top 2 this year going for promotion of course more people will come and watch.  But if the club assume they don't need to do anything for fans to keep turning up every week then they're in for a shock.  If bit by bit things are getting reduced/taken away/cancelled - it all adds up.

Numbers are going down game by game, people are saying themselves they're not bothering with the game having even already got a ticket for the game, this isn't right.  How many times have you gone home this year and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon?  Or has it just felt flat?

Sit around and do nothing, and nothing happens.  At least there is a promotion for the Bradford game having £10 a ticket for the north stand - it's a start to trying to get more people interested.

That highlights reel is terrible with no sound. No idea why they can’t let the sound run on it but it’s like looking at our 1960’s super eight cine reel at Pontins. some of our other games have no commentary but crowds or referee can be heard, makes a lot of difference👍👍

thanks for that Glynn, makes a lot of difference. The official one this year or Widnes TV has no sound, it’s terrible to watch with out any sound

So lets have some positive ideas for enhancing the gameday experience. The youngsters games before ko were interesting and gave early birds something to look at.

Maybe a schools comp 7 a side with one game at a time, taking us through the season to a final at the last home game. All Widnes schools could be invited. It is an Olympic sport and quick.

The club atm is on limited staff and keeping it afloat is a full time job. I am sure that many do volunteer to help in a variety of ways. Maybe a supporter with the time, energy and aptitude will step forward?
