Newcastle Game

Yes we played well and really deserved to win, it could have been a lot easier if it hadn’t been for some terrible refereeing. There’s no way Lawton should have been sent off, the Newcastle player slipped to his knees, there was no way Lawton couldn’t have hit him high. Another bad decision when a Newcastle player dropped the ball in the tackle trying to offload it, and they were given 6 more tackles from which they scored a try. And near the end with the scores level they did a high tackle and the ref was going to let it go, till the crowd reacted and he looked at the touch judge who told him it was a penalty,

We played well for most oft he match, especially with Dorro and Owens pulling out late on. It’s going to be tough next week, we don’t often win at Batley. But our confidence should be high after our recent winning spell.

Pascal .. Both teams played well but we were better!

Apart from the poor attendance the only other “bummer” was the referee not using any common sense when he sent off Lawton for a high tackle on a slipped and falling player !!

That referee is shocking. He’s done for us before - it’s like he (and occasionally the TJ’s) are running around with their eyes closed missing the things like offsides and high shots but then all of a sudden seeing we have made an indiscretion or IMHO making stuff up. Would like to see how skewed the pen decisions were towards Newcastle.

But saying that it was a really satisfying win. Especially in that heat.

Wow what a game! Delta is extremely happy.. the change under kear is there to see.. 12 0 then 12 12 we would of lost that game previous and the score would have been a blowout.. he has put confidence into this group and it's there to see.

The player's obviously want to play for him.. we were burning through tackles when going down to 12 men.. the player's just tackled harder and harder and seen the game out.. well done everyone concerned.

Might even join Pascal at pinkies tonight for the mad Frenchmans usual Sunday slot 😜

Fantastic performance today. It would have been a travesty if we’d lost or even drawn that.

shows what a difference a good coach can make. To beat a decent full time outfit in that heat who have some good loan players is a great win.

craven was outstanding, as was Farnworth, but MOM has to go to Fleming.

as has been said, previously we’d have folded.

red card was harsh, definitely fell into it. Yellow would have been sufficient as there was contact to the head regardless. Hopefully there’s no further action.

missing Owens, Fozzard, DORO, Brown, Field and Grady, all would usually start.

hopefully the fans start to come back. Poor attendance but decent atmosphere.

Good to know mate and Lawton is that tall he may struggle to get down. 😂 Nice to see so many positives and next year will be a good season. Always said the biggest signing is the coach. 👍👏 🥖🥖🥖

One of the great moments of the match was John Kears celebration following the last try. He was dancing round like we had just scored the winner at Wembley! What a turn round in just a few weeks and you get the feeling that he is just getting started. Let's hope that he can continue to build the momentum in the next few matches.

The referee wasn't "shocking", you are being too kind towards Mr Moore's performance as he was much worse than that!

The sad thing about Lawton's red card is that even if the rfl decide it unjustified they will probably still give him a one match ban as otherwise they will be seen to be criticising Mr Moore - I doubt that they will.

When Mr Moore left the field to a well-earned old fashioned boo-ing, he looked up at the south stand occupants and gave a big smirk!

Our 17 played really well, individually and as a team. I liked the way they got together in a huddle at the final whistle. Team spirit is returning.

We are now 7th in the table.

What’s Mr Moore got to do with things?

A lot of them playing for a contract will also bring out better performances but I am glad they’re playing for each other now, like has been stated we would have folded at 12-12 under finnegan

As has been said, up until very recently we would have rolled over and lost. Like I said in one of the other threads there are the first glimmers of things getting better on and off the pitch for the first time in years. For the first time in a long time I was thinking to myself that I can’t wait for the next match 👍👍

Best game in a few seasons that was we looked like a team and played like one came home a little hoarse as not used to shouting that much lately. We are still getting bowled over into touch early in the tackle but i am sure JK will sort that. Fleming was superb the first attacking Fullback since Hanbury. More of the same.

Spoke to Ste Tyler at the hooter and he said playing conditions were “hard and testing” and only found out he was playing an hour before kick off. I thought everyone put in a decent shift with lots of positives to take from the game and I’m positive the closeness of the score is down to some of the decisions by the ref keeping us penned in our twenty, according to JK they had 17 sets to our 7 at one time, that’s a lot!!! To be honest with all the possession they had they should have scored more. Love the way everyone congratulates each other and love playing for each other. Next week will be a test of how far we have come lately and the weather won’t be a leveller.

The crowd is down to the core support, as ever. But that core had its reward yesterday!!!!!

Full time and SL hopefuls wilted in the heat!!!!
