I think the Newcastle game a in two weeks time is a must win game to try and get confidence into the squad
Today was a must win after the Barrow defeat. Not expecting much, to be honest.
Newcastle have had a bit of a mixed start, beat Dewsbury today, beat Workington away, played ok v Leigh but lost some other games.
Remember last year when we should have won and ended up drawing?
I think it is a need to win to keep the likes of Newcastle at arms length, but also because if we lose that its likely to be 5 defeats in a row with Leigh coming after.
We are clearly capable of beating Newcastle who look very average based on their results this season but we will still need to play a good bit better than we did this afternoon to do so.
Wonder what happened to those Geordies that became Vikings fans during the latter years of our SL existence? Used to post on here.

@jdgsport I always think that too James. It’s like the one about the ‘most important game’ - you could say that about every game too.
Time to show some passion for the famous Widnes Jersey. We should do better and can do better and I think Finnigan needs to put a rocket up some players arses. 🚀🥖🥖🥖🔥 Pascal needs his mojo back as my Gold seats are melting.
@pascal will you be leading th3 sngng on the bus to Newcastle pascal ?
Miserable bugger and I am driving up, as got time off work. Won't stop my fire in my belly. 👍
Hopefully a more effective game plan will have been worked on over the 2 week gap between matches.
Also, we surely know how a Betts/O'Carroll team will operate!
Surely not 5 drives and a kick ? Never worked for us
mind watching Leeds it looks like have been coached by Cummins - they are as bad as their pitch !
I think it's now more important to win this game after 3 defeats on the bounce. Both from a confidence point of view and to stay in the play off positions. If we had beaten Barrow at home and York away we would still be unexpectedly top of the league and could afford an away loss. Now we need to win if we have ambitions of finishing between positions 3 and 6 and being in the play offs, rather than the bookies pre season prediction of 8th. For a club the size of Widnes, 8th in the Championship isn't good enough however way you look at it.
If Doro, Farnworth and Dupree can't walk straight through the Chapelhows then they need to rethink their career choice.
