sunny wishes to thank Pascal for his affectionate declaration, however wishes to make clear - very clear indeed - that Pascal is not his type at all.

Sorry Pascal.....

Sunny I am an affectionate French man and I understand not your type. But I love your positive posts on Widnes Vikings. Two big props for Pascal and a utility player. Then add Edge and Else from the list mate for this passionate Pascal.  👍

I agree about the props but feel Roby is a bigger priority than Else or Edge. Having said that I expect all 3 plus Hulme to be resigned. Those 3 plus 2 props takes us to 27 in the squad 28 if the Tomkins issue is not resolved.

I’d keep all 4 of those mentioned above as they offer decent back up in a variety of positions - two props are a must though. If we sign two warhorses, I’ll be relatively happy with the squad then and confident of a top 6 finish next season.

Geoff is Roby just a centre as Edge seems to play Centre, Second row, wing and full back, so is quite versatile. We will probably sign the rest though as we are looking at a 27/28 squad. 2 new props though and I feel the squad complete, but does anyone think 1 or 2 loans from Super league? Personally it never seems to work out because they play a few times and we never see them again.

There doesn't seem to be many props around who we could afford or prepared to come here. Gerrard? I thought he was Ok when he was with us, but another one who seemed to be injured a lot and no real aggression. I guess he is looking for a full-time contract somewhere and is he really any better than we already have. Perhaps we will need to rely on loans if we have injuries.

Just how the drop in funds will affect SL clubs remains to be seen. They may not be as happy to loan out players, particularly experienced props. Most loanees are youngsters getting frustrated and we will have our own squad in that position if we escape injuries.

We will need to know soon just how long we will have to wait for Levy to be fit. He could well be our stand-out prop but not on the bench! Fax and Newcastle have just signed what we want, by dipping into the Yorkshire pond. There don't seem to be any 'Derek Pykes' any more and no doubt the club have looked hard and long for one.

I presume we have given up on signing Bennion, Spelly seemed aware of why he signed for Rochdale in League 1 instead of continuing at Swinton, but wouldn't say, don't know if that would put us off? I think he is contracted to Rochdale for at least another season anyway, If the old heads are not there, are there any, keen as mustard, youngsters coming up at Saints, Warrington, or Wigan who fancy making a name for themselves for a season.  Or even an up and coming 2nd or 3rd tier Aussie, Kiwi or Islander who fancies a "working holiday" in the UK

Props have become more specialised in the modern game, that is why playing Grady there simply won’t do.

However, I am surprised regarding our issues at signing one. In today’s game even centres are 16 stone plus, I am totally bewildered as to why we can’t sign a big lump just to add to the packs size.

If SL clubs budgets are cut next season, then there’s a possibility that some clubs might want to get rid of a prop, that is only a squad player.

At some point players, probably in their late 20's have to make a decision regarding where they are going. If they are not going to be really 'top' players with five years or so ahead of them then maybe a job plus PT money would be a wise choice. I guess that sitting in the squad on FT money of some sort is an easy option. It is the size of that contract that will maybe take a hit.

Covid will have hit the likelihood of a second string Aussie coming over on a sensible contract. A few are gravitating to France and who can blame them!

One things for sure if we’re taking anyone on loan we need to make sure it’s a season long loan with no recall, not like the shambles we saw last year.

I am pretty sure Roby played half back as well as centre and wing.
