Good luck to him, pity he won't be starting until after the London game.

Just been reading what he said to Merseyside and quoted on our website. “ Had difficulty coming because of lack of investment, quality of players and table position but he’s bought into a dream”
That says a lot about our club, we live in and on hope and dreams.

He will never control the dressing room with a comment like that.

I don't think Kear would have come if there weren't concrete plans for better signings next year and a carte blanche to get rid of players he doesn't fancy.

Here's hoping.

And let's not have any of this 'it's not his squad' flannel, because it is.He never signed them but they're his players now, which he has chosen to take on.He's been brought in to turn things around and he has to do it with this squad of players. For this season at least

I don't know what he said in the interview you mention, however on the club site he commented that we had some excellent players and that we were talking to others for next season - he must have been told who they are - and certainly didn't say we had a poor quality of players.

He also spoke quite highly of the Directors and Finney and their desire to progress, and very highly of the club playing facilities and fans....

@sunny yes heard it. However the ad for Radio Merseyside is where I took the quote from. Thought it looked very strange for someone just taking over as coach👍

Echo Sinbad's words . JK starts with a clean slate , hopefully halts this years downward spiral , gets rid of players he doesn't rate and gets given the funds to bring in who he wants for next season .

Well we have a new coach eventually, suppose club had to go with the fact he could not start till July, but as others have pointed out that’s a few games down the line

however players now might start to pull their fingers out to prove to new boss they are worth it ?
need to look at where next wins are coming from

Im a little Underwhelmed, very much the safe choice but will give him all the support in the world in the hope that he can turn this around.

Maybe I’m easily pleased, but for me Kear is the perfect signing for us at the moment! We have a group of players on their knees, low on confidence and playing as individuals. Kear has all the experience that both Finnegan and OBrien may not have had and I’m sure will have the wisdom to be able to build their self-confidence.

Add to that, his great rugby league brain and I’m feeling pretty confident that he can get our lads playing like a team.

I especially liked the fact that he didn’t demand the fans support in the club interview, but instead praised the fans and said they would see results on the pitch. I honestly don’t think we could have got a better man for the job at this point in time. Pity about the July start, but he may have holidays booked I suppose! 😜

I think he is a very good appointment given our current position. He has experience and knowledge of what it takes to win and has, as Shelly said, a record of improving average / under performing sides. Good luck to him and welcome to Widnes John.

As an aside I liked his little joke about not getting here earlier as he’s waiting for his visa to work in Lancashire.

Lets hope he can get the club on some solid foundations as a minimum
