On the coaching position, be interesting to see whether they take their time or whether they will bust a gut to get someone in for 2 weeks today, the next game.

There’s absolutely no need to find a rushed replacement -   we won’t go up and we won’t go down.

Lets see how our players perform with, hopefully, a different style of play with the interim coaching team.

In my opinion, there needs to be some changes introduced before the Whitehaven game, to avoid even more fans walking away. I suppose it depends on who applies for coaching job, as to whether we appoint someone soon. I would like to see an appointment made before the Whitehaven game.

The argument for us not being relegated or promoted this year, could equally apply to 2023, with any two of Leigh/Featherstone/Toulouse being favourites for promotion, unless that elusive investor comes along which is even more unlikely.

The first change is the CEO Frank his silence is deafening.

@mick-george What do you want him to say, other than apologise for the absolute dross we are seeing on the pitch? The Board are equally silent. Perhaps you want them to walk away too?

Probably, the first thing we need to do is appoint a coach with some new ideas and find some money from somewhere to bring in a few new players to add to the squad this season.

I am not aware of clubs sacking their Chief Executive for poor results, or what immediate benefits this will bring. My guess Mick is that your constant criticism of Finney is personal for some reason best known to you.

I do agree that Finney and the Board need to address the concern of fans at the poor performances, even if it is only to announce a new coach and hopefully some potential investment.

It is a bit unusual IMO for a CEO not to have made a comment on the departure of a coach, even if it was a quick quote thanking him for his efforts and that he appreciated the fans were concerned with results, that they were looking for a new one immediately. Or even a quick 5 minute thing on Radio Merseyside or whatever.

I think that short of a handful of players, the first thing any decent coach would do , is try and tout most of the squad around the game to try and free up enough cash to assemble a competitive squad for next year.

Most of the players are Out of Contract at the end of the year so shouldn't be too difficult to move some on.

Actually Frank to be brutal one member of the board has no right to be there.

Their bid was squashed by outrageous debt and no stadium share

Backhouse knows zero about rugby league or widnes

Leon pryce would be a half decent choice as coach

@cj91 The club did issue a statement about Finnegan’s departure, which may or may not have come from the CEO. I am not sure what more he could have added. I do believe that we need to appoint a coach quickly and perhaps the CEO and/or the Board should update fans on the search for a coach and when they hope to announce an appointment.

Agreed

Finney is mostly invisible

I assume he does the job on a voluntary basis

@mick-george I guess that you are referring to Jason Shaw. I understand that he was appointed as a Director by the Board and therefore has every right to be there. Whether he represents the fans or VIQI or whether there needs to be a review of fans’ representation on the Board or the future role of VIQI  should perhaps be the subject of another discussion. The most pressing problem that needs addressing is the coaching position and how the current decline can be turned around.

Two divisions of ten in 2024, according to somebody 'in the know' on Twitter.Gamecaller or some such.

No idea if that is correct or not but if it is, thank goodness it is 2024 and not 2023. Gives us a bit more time to turn the ship around.
