Maybe James can arrange an interview with Tomkins to get his perspective about his possible return this year and whether he is still committed to Widnes.

The club could give an update on the position with Jewitt in view of the speculation. What is his injury and when do they anticipate him returning?

I’m with Ethel

had the good fortune to speak with Lee and he certainly is ‘Arsed’

he will tell you his role under Sheens was not to play but to instil a more professional mental attitude around the club. If he played it was a bonus but it was how coming out of retirement was sold to him.

having spoken to several people around the club, his influence with the younger players is making a difference.

Why be signed as a player if he’s going to be more like a coach?  How can we afford players who aren’t actually going to play?

think you answered your own question there Spidey

Sheens needed a mentor/player welfare officer  and to get him he had to sign him as a player as no budget for the role.

Finnegan had a different role in mind for him, and was not able to allow Lee to manage his body the way Sheens promised. I don’t think you need to be a coaching genius to see that it hasn’t worked out how both had hoped.

I think if it had been made clearer what the intended role was for Jewitt at the outset, a lot of speculation and rumourmongering could have been avoided.

As for Logan, is he contracted here next year?
