Let's be honest

Let's be honest ...of all the rumoured yet to be confirmed departures the only one that really potentially hurts is foz ....don't hate but I don't give a flying fart about ... farnworth..craven..Owens ...I actually think their the perfect example of players we've spunked a shed load on in recent years n got sod all for it ....maybe slightly harsh on Owen but Danny n jack have gave virtually zero return on the money invested.. personally I'd love to keep Danny if we knew he'd stay injury free...but they both spend more time in the stand ...there's no time for sentiment we need the key positions filled by key players...maybe it's time to just recruit a squad that have a history of actually getting on the pitch ...if you actually look at the spine of 1...6...7..9 the only constant has been foz ..and edgy of late...we've had Lyons at 6...had flem n Joe at 1 n sometimes jack ...JJ just hasn't worked at 9..forbers been alright ...if you can't regularly get your 1st choice spine on the pitch you've got no chance

Quite agree, Cumbria viking, we will really miss Foz if he does move elsewhere next season.

It is hard to comment as we, the supporters, do not know what offer - if indeed any - has been made by our Club or any other club come to that, to him. I would hope that we have made an offer, as high as we can afford, including the Captain's or Vice Captain's armband, so it is now up to him to decide.

I don't know what his job is outside of rugby, or where he lives, maybe the club or Directors have contacts and could assist him in furthering his outside career in addition to him continuing to play for Widnes.

I thought yesterday our downfall started when he was subbed, noticeable he did not return for a second stint. Forber did not do anything wrong but at present is not as good or influential as Foz.

Cumbria Viking I think the only big lost world be Fozzard, but why would we want 6 players from Swinton who are below us in the table? I can understand 3 or 4 as some of them will be better than the Widnes players. I remember Oldham players signed and Dupree and Ince were not too bad. We have to keep 70 tov 80% of the squad because you can't have complete while changes. Part time clubs have to buy in the area for work, so where is Fozards other job? Personally I won't believe anything until see on the Official site.

@pascal Might be waiting a long time for any announcements.Retention and recruitment is well on the way according to yesterdays programme, seem to be keeping things very close to the chest.

Well may be if quite a few have left already then explains the crunchie effort from players. Terrible attitude and if the case good riddance to some of them. We won't make the playoffs and can't wait for this negative season to be over. Another failure not making the playoffs again.

It looks like JJ is out of the picture at Cas under their new coach so there won't be an offer to keep him.Hopefully he will show better at Widnes next year than he did this year. And let's be honest, even if by some miracle we finish 6th we wont go any further in the play offs than one game.Finishing 7th, 8th or 9th is atrocious though.

@sinbad Why is it that we never seem to get it right?Recruitment, retention, coaching?or is it just realistic as to where we are.

God knows, alan but a different coach every year doesn't help.We are better than 7th/8th in the second division. If we don't believe that then we may as well pack in.

I picked up some gossip in the south stand bar yesterday. A chunk of our squad were told last week that they’re not getting a contract for next season. However, some players who were offered deals have now had the offer cancelled. So they’ve turned down offers from other clubs to stay but then told the offer is now off the table. I think a number of players heads have gone. I know players come and go at the end of the season but it sounds like it has been handled badly.

I think a mass clear out is exactly what the club need ..the amount of times fans have commented at players half arsed efforts is beyond ridiculous..and tbh we all know who the culprits are..however if rumour mills are true the clubs doing it in a pee poor manner ..not sure where the 6 players from Swinton thing has come from but I do know some are Coleman favourites such as bennion and lyodd ...I believe that bennion will follow him who's actually a very good player ..will add considerable size ..but injury prone so he'll fit right in lol ..has been murmurings around gav rodden and George Roby as he's rumoured to be getting released from Huddersfield but like everything else it's just the dreaded rumour

We still suffer from the lack of a strong pack. The difference when Lawton was off was marked. We had Brown playing with a dislocated finger, it seemed, but tackling with one arm!!! Their first long break in the second half was from that, they just targeted Brown and were through,

What was poor was that a fit Ollie Davies was sat in the stand!!!!

I don't hear the rumours but the system needs to change because it's not working.

We keep saying that size matters and we need a few Benyons (without the injuries) from wherever we can get them. As a club we have raided lower echelon players before and benefitted from them, but only if they up their game.

The CH situation is a puzzle but if his role is to change the picture maybe it's all part of the plan, only time will tell.

As it stands it looks like we will be parting with what remains of our old academy and that is sad, but maybe necessary.

Certainly Fozzard should be on the 'keep' list at almost any price!

We must not lose Fozard, Lawton or to lesser degree Farnworth.

I would be happy for Craven to go with Lyons, Holroyd, Bent, Brown, Davies, Hatton& Johnstone as long as all are replaced with a better quality player. I cannot see achieving that by signing Swinton players. If we sign more than say 2 from Swinton next year we will be fighting relegation not mid table.

Farnworth is not worth persisting with. Never changes a game, never breaks the line or offloads. For a young guy, he plays like a journeyman. League 1 is his level.

Don't have a problem with a mass clear out, my one concern would be what would happen to our crowds if we were to have a worse season that this year's whilst doing so.

Crowds on their arse now, as the ST holders who don't attend are added to numbers it doesn't look too bad. But I can't remember see so many empty seats.

It took Lawton 70 minutes or so to run the ball in like he was determined to break through, the rest of the time it was very lethargic to say the least.

Like many others have pointed out, Fozard needs to stay if we are to improve to any degree.  The only other 2 out of yesterdays starting 13 I would be disappointed to lose are Brookes and Edge
