Genuinely do not see how that is a personal insult. By saying my opinion of your opinion of my opinion is what I believe to be narrow minded I seem to have offended you, or at least I have hit a nerve. I am not allowed to be offended by your opinion, but you can be by mine.

i have always been in favour of a reserves system, that’s how the sane should be.

a loan is different from DR. Season loans are generally where a player is coming to try and secure a deal, not just for a week of two.

after seeing Patton put two averages kicks in, and give an intercept try already he is certainly “ ripping it up”

Personally I don't care where the players come from as long as they play well and 6 or 7 reserve players won't win many games. To be honest Jonathan Thurston could play in that team and lose because the pack is not big enough. 3 or 4 top DR forwards would help. I like Callum O'Neil but lacks size. Hey that Case looks half decent with abit of size. lol. Watching the reserves not that many are ready yet and if play them regularly they will become fatigued.

I see the Top NRL prop and the seasoned Super League half back showed up well today.

Anyone that would rather watch us lose with academy or lads that aren’t ready to be challenging at the top end than win with 2 dual reg Warrington players in the team need their heads testing honestly.

Irishtrevor take note.

Great post you guys.  I think the walk in opens about 8am to start the head tests,  I'd say you two should get there about 6am to be first and second in the que.

If you think Lyons would have done any better against the momentum London had you’re deluded mate

also none of our academy or reserve props would have done any better than latu

let’s see what happens the next few games eh if they’re involved rather than just the one training session the day before a game 😒

Let's hope we see neither of these two again.

I’d prefer not to have DR players, but if other teams are using them and we don’t we’re just making it harder for ourselves to win games . Look how much DR players benefited York and Featherstone last season.
Yesterdays DR players didn’t play very well, but they had only arrived here the day before the game and had one training session, so it’s not that surprising, hopefully if they stay for a few weeks we will see them play a lot better.

We have a first team squad of 24 of whom 7 qualified for our Under 19's last year. That's 17 first team players 21 and over of whom 2 were injured and one suspended last Sunday. We have a small Salary Cap set by the RFL and a significant part of that invested in our spine 1,6,7,9 which is good and one of the best in the Championship.

It's not a perfect world this is Widnes Vikings 2020 post James Rule. We are in a better position than I personally though we would be 12 or even 4 months ago. Unfortunately Sunday was a big wake up call for me I dared to dream.

I don't think we can moan about the DR with Warrington it's unfortunately necessary and it's up to us how we use it. In a perfect world we wouldn't need it. In an imperfect world with limited money you have to make choices.

Toronto with a small squad have a DR with Rochdale and could end up taking DR players from them.

Well that popped our early season bubble.Without being confident of a win I was looking towards a close contest but London just showed how poor a team we are. They were SL last year with 10 wins so it shouldnt have come as a surprise.Widnes will do ok against the Oldham's and the Batley's but any half decent side in this division will take us apart.I stand by my 7th place prediction from last year.

Don’t be so dramatic

The only teams that will most likely ‘take us apart’ is Leigh London and Toulouse

Everything clicked for London on Sunday they’ve been poor up until then and every 50/50 call went their way sometimes that just happens

they played their gameplan  right barging up the middle and close to the line moving their big men to the edges where most halfbacks defend there’s only gonna be one winner in Prop V Halfback

Nothing wrong with my opinion at all, but thanks.

30 years obviously makes you a real fan. Thing is, yes it seems Ratters and I agree that your view of only wanting to see “Widnes lads play for Widnes” is spangles. I’m sure I speak for Ratters when I say that neither of us are ‘narrow-minded’ but thanks for introducing personal insults into the debate. Fact is, and it is a fact, loans, DR and playing players from outside the hometown of the team is within the rules of the game. So either the RFL, the clubs and the coaches share our ‘narrow-minded’ view that’s it ok, or you need to have a rethink. I’m interested to know how much you opposed DR when we were in SL? We’re you equally as disillusioned with the game, or was that alright for us to send our young lads for a run out at Crusaders? You can’t have it both ways. I bet it’s made you puke with some of loaners we’ve had over 30 years! 😂

Comedy gold!

Why Comedy Gold? I say as I see it and our squad is not big enough or strong enough without some help from a Superleague club. Featherstone used it well last year and if we did as well as them I think most fans be much happier than near the bottom of the league. We go to watch a good Widnes team, and nobody complained when we won the Northern Rail Cup with dual players to get promoted.

The problem on Sunday was that we used a DR player in the key halfback position, which I think needs to be avoided: although Lyons wouldn't have done much better given the pack situation. If we have to bring another HB in, a loan would be better IMO.

I don't like either DR or Warrington.

Sadly, the situation is we have to view it as a necessary evil for the time being....we need to finish higher up the table, get more central funding and then hopefully get a squad capable of  GF push next year.

I thought Patton was awful, though he was behind a beaten pack.

I didn't think Latu did badly at all, and the abuse aimed at him was disgraceful.

not sure about Toulouse yet, but London yes, and I do think that Leigh will 'rip us a new one'.

Not looking forward to those hidings from Leigh we used to suffer a few years back.

Reckon we could still get fifth though
