Membership has dropped 14.5% since 2019 when we went into administration. Understandable I suppose with the problems that have arose for people in the current Covid Pandemic but nonetheless disappointing regarding  the financial situation of the club.

But it's not the club though. It's VIQI's membership that's dropped. Inevitable really.

Correct we should not be relying on VIQI.

Those who can will, I guess continue to support, I certainly will. There will be those whose circumstances have changed and may even be out of a job and simply can't afford the subs and in those circumstances they have my sympathy. God willing they may be back.

There are many who think that VIQI members are stupid anyway, but that has never stopped a real supporter.  That support is massive and must motivate the team and staff if they are serious about the future of Widnes RLFC. The penny trail of years ago was the same sort of commitment from the rank and file supporters and we are still here.

Get some games on and something real to cheer about is the best response from the team and the club, and the best marketing tool for VIQI.

Indeed it is but it should be for luxury not dependency.

Where else can we get it from.   We have tried with a moneyman and TV income any where else can we get it from.   The club are doing what they can off the field, we now need the Players to do it on the field and get a bigger supporter base.   We have got the Stadium to hold 13k, let's fill it.

1054  is still a really good number, I think the mixture of Covid and the fact that a number will have paid because of the dire situation of 2 years ago which is not here any more.

Good to see a start of season report from them in fairness.

All that proves is that we have not had anyone who can actually run the club. The fans are supposed to support the club not finance it, otherwise what is the point.

Bit harsh on the current Board who are doing a good job after taking over the financial mess left by the previous regime. I would say that we should thank the current Board that we still have a club to support; and a Board and coach with the ambition to rebuild the club within its financial means,, with the ambition to build a squad capable of competing in the Championship in the short-term and a long term ambition to get back to SL.

Fans do finance the club by going through the turnstiles to watch their team. VIQI is a bonus and a credit to those who run it and those who contribute to VIQI funds to enable the club to strengthen the playing squad by supporting the club financially to bring in or retain players that the club may otherwise not be able to afford. We have a decent fan base at Championship level and a successful team will increase that fan base.

What a ridiculous statement. If we aren't supposed to finance the club, then what is season ticket money and gate receipts for? Supporting a club is all about providing funds to watch it. Otherwise you are just a fan.

That's nonsense. To be a sustainable club, of course fan revenue is going to be important. That's the business model.
