Is Robson really the answer?

Robson is a good signing. My recollection is that he played well for us when he was here and can only be a decent addition to the squad. I wondered whether we would have tried to sign him when Ottawa withdrew, but given a two year contract with Warrington, so they must rate him .

Bringing in loans is a sign of the times for all clubs, not just Widnes. The chances are that he will be here for the season, as he is unlikely to get into the Warrington squad unless cover for injuries.

With Owens injury and Craven's suspension, perhaps we now need another half back on loan too,

I wouldn't be loaning a half back for the sake of a 2 game suspension. Give Joe Lyons a couple of games in the halves.

Robson is a good player, solid, be a better option that both Lawton and Dwyer IMO.

As for loan players, do share the sentiment that we have to be careful not to have too many, but it is reflective of the understrength initial squad put together.

To be fair, everyone was raving about York's recruitment - and they've signed five on loan since the first league game.

Yeah the York thing is weird, perhaps they have signed too many players the wrong side of 30?

I just am not personally too keen on players being in and out, the Doro deal is fine, O'Neill is by necessity but I would prefer to avoid numerous players having 2 weeks here and there: but given the size of the squad we may need that to field a full team.

They have to have an initial two-week loan as per RFL requirements - I'd imagine Robson and probably O'Neill will turn in to similar deals as Doro (long-term with recall option).

I stand corrected good people. I don’t recall being wowed by him but it was a time/team to forget when he was here (where did Charlie Gubb go???) but as a few on here have said he’s better than what we have. Just feel loanees could be called back and leave us up crunchie creek... seeing as Craven is suspended can he play stand off???

Given we have three loans after a couple of weeks of the season it would seem our current loaners might be replaceable as the season goes on. I think it is something we will need to get used too with the semi-pro game and no ‘A’ Team as us oldies would have called it.

Robson played 7 games over 2 seasons for us and scored 2 tries......from what I recall, he was a decent player and not a bad footballer either - loose forward for us, I expect....................

Austin’s not travelling to France this weekend due to passport expiring. Could have looked after him as well

Inglis next on a 2 week loan to build up his match fitness and provide cover for Spedding.
